Absolutely one of the best places we have eaten at since we moved out here 9 months ago! Sarah, the waitress, was pleasant and provided excellent service. Food was tasty, and showed up quickly. Prices were reasonable. Pie was very good. We definitely will be back soon. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Valley Restaurant is such a hidden gem. Yes they serve biscuits & gravy, country fried steak, homemade pies, and the usual South Dakota fare. And it goes without saying they do those things well. But they also have kombucha on tap! If you don’t drink and mocktails aren’t exactly your thing, what a pleasant surprise to see someone offering a healthy beverage.
The server was really friendly and the cook peeked over at my table to make sure I was eating my meal. Just a really positive experience overall. I’ll be going back here next time I’m traveling through Brookings.

Absolutely excellent food! We stopped here this weekend, just a short skip over from Brookings! I had the open face roast beef, my family had the same, but with hamburger, then we took caramel rolls to go! Major YES to it all! We joked (when hundreds of miles away) that we should have gotten more rolls, they were truly excellent. Fantastic country diner with out of this world food and very friendly service! We will return, loved it!!!
