Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, located on South McKenzie Street in Foley, Alabama, just celebrated a grand “re-opening.” It’s ironic that I was around when they opened the first time in 1997. We stopped in for lunch and to reminisce and were shocked at how vibrant and festive the decor looked- very different from what we remembered. They offer a large menu of Mexican cuisine with fresh ingredients. Our lunch was just as good as we remembered; only the surroundings were different, but in a good way! Their bathroom has three roomy stalls and was clean. Our server was very sweet and highly attentive. They have so much table space- take a small or large group. The chips and salsa were top notch. Our meal was pricey for Mexican fare, but it was one of the best restaurant meals we’ve had in a while. Go check out the changes! We had an excellent lunch.

Please be careful when you order the food because you might end up eating the entire plate and will be too stuffed to move. It was so delicious that I did not have hardly any leftovers to take home. I could not believe how fresh and clean the food tasted. It was not greasy or tasteless. I probably would have used Shazam the entire meal because the music that was playing was almost always new to me. The lady who helped us with our orders made great suggestions about popular items and was an excellent server. The guy who served us the meal was super cool-he could be a kindergarten teacher because he just kept repeating that the plates were hot. The inside was really really beautiful-a must see for Foley! It is the most beautiful Mexican restaurant that I have been in for the longest time!

Justice Forall

We returned to Vallartas after a long absence and found the place completely renovated, updated and full of charm. Our order was quickly taken and served. They bring the customary chips and salsa but also a black bean dip that was super tasty and flavorful. Looking forward to adding Vallartas back into the rotation.

Great experience! Had a very friendly efficient server, I think her name was Lupita.
We had 3 in our group. I had shrimp chimichanga..it was loaded with shrimp & had fabulous cheese sauce on top. Chips, salsa & bean dip were great! Another ordered El Carbone. He was impressed with it. Another ordered a Pollo dish. He too, liked it very much. All had very generous servings.
The birthday dessert (fried ice cream) was awesome! Along with the singing servers ☺️

About a block off the main road, you may miss this hidden gem. Some of the best Mexican food in Foley, AL.

My favorite is the Mexican bowl, which I get with steak. It isn’t just a trifle of ingredients, it is deconstructed in the bowl as pictured. And the pickled, red onion in the center is gold!

The service is amazing. When I eat at a Mexican restaurant, I can often tell in 30 seconds how good the service will be… as that is how long it takes before you are greeted, seated, and have chips and salsa. And love how they bring a carafe of salsa giving each guest their own dipping bowl.

And the atmosphere is different, but with a lot of character. For example, the bar stools are the most comfortable seating. They have a slightly reclining back. And they have several 4-TV arrangements to make one big screen. It’s clean with just the right volume level.

I could probably go on for a while, but this place has done a lot of things right, and the prices are reasonable as well.

I recommend Vallartas; it has a pleasant atmosphere, very nice music, and is great for families. The waitress who served and helped us was very friendly. When you go to Vallarta, ask for Lupita; she is very kind and recommended the food, which was all very good. The place is beautiful, and she wasn’t racist like in other places. She treated my whole family very well and always had a smile on her face.

As a local, we dine here frequently & absolutely LOVE Vallarta’s! My personal favorite dish is their quesabirria tacos, they are to die for! They recently remodeled their restaurant, it is beautiful inside & the quality of their service & food has not wavered since reopening. Their margaritas are strong but delicious, I love that they offer a wide variety of flavors including different Margarita flight options. Highly recommend checking them out!

Absolutely one of the best places to eat on the Alabama coast. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food is delicious. And after 61 years of age, the most beautiful looking and best tasting drinks ever. The ocean margarita. I give it a 10+++. Service was fast. Staff was top notch. A great experience.

The waitress was nice but unforgiving. Inaccurate descriptions of dishes, failure to disclose my request was available until after food arrived, falsely advertised menu prices and expressed dissatisfaction with needing to bring drinks. Used to be a family favorite, now seems untouchable and warned of false menu prices as when mentioned, we were told, “oh well.” At least the chips and salsa were good!
