Great mezcal bar. Bartender was extemely knowledgable of mezcals AND their creation/history. My sister and I had a wonderful time. We learned alot about the establishment and their goal to make tequilas’ bastard cousin mezcal, an attraction for all. Not a place to overlook in the west loop. Oh, and the food is fantastic. But yea, mezcal.

The mezcal margarita?
Balanced. Smoky. Dangerous in the best way.

The guacamole?
Phenomenal. Fresh, bold, no notes. That part was done right.

I ordered the steak salad & the steak itself was delicious, cooked well, no complaints there.
But the salad? A little too spicy for comfort.
And listen… I’m from Texas. I don’t scare easy. ️ BUT That heat deserves a heads-up on the menu. Transparency is luxury.

One more thing … bring limes to the table.

Our waitress was amazing… fun, warm, attentive, the kind of energy that makes the whole experience better.
And the valet parking? A blessing. Snowing, freezing, in Chicago and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.

Overall?
Great food, strong drinks, excellent service, solid vibe. I’ll be back!

La Josie is my favorite spot to come to for birthday celebrations. She’s a bit pricey but the food and service is always impeccable so it’s definitely worth it. You can never go wrong with the drinks and enchiladas here. I’m still dreaming about the Al pastor trio . The ribeye Auguachile was delicious and the camarones a la diabla were good as well, but the sauce reminded us a bit of Valentina hot sauce which was interesting. We’ll be back soon for good food and a good time

Now this place is what we call a classy restaurant !!!

The food itself will take you to places, a long with the quick and kind treatment and ambience make it perfectly!!!

We bought forgot the menu names but it’s like a chicken sandwich, a beef burrito, like juice and tres leches for dessert. Everything was awesome.

Clean restrooms, good quality drinking water, clean plates. We also did not have any wait time even though it was a weekend and lunch time. But it would be nice if you reserve and then go.

Food was good. I feel like it was better the last 2 times I visited Chicago. The rotisserie chicken taco was legendary. Unfortunate they took it out. I understand rotating menus are a trendy thing but can honestly be a hit or miss. A definite hit in this instance. Especially when you take away successful plates and replace them with okay ones.

We came in and were told our only option was either the bar or the table we sat at as the only one available because of reservations they had. However the restaurant was completely empty. It remained empty for the duration of time we were there.

This time I had 3 different tacos and 1 out of 3 was good. The other 2 were okay. 1 of them was definitely too salty. Service has deteriorated. For the price you pay I think it could be so much better.

What really threw me off the way they’re now taking card payments. Since when is it customary for an elevated restaurant to bring the terminal to the table and have the customer tap the tip right in front of the waitress? This practice is disgusting and part of the reason my review went to a 2 star. Print the receipt, hand it to the customer, and allow privacy for the transaction process. Also, 20% as the starting tip percentage is crazy. Customers are indirectly forced to tap either 20%, 25%, or 30% because the waitress has her hand extended while standing there waiting for you to finish the transaction. This is never okay.

Overall, this has turned into a passable option for those nearby. I just don’t honestly think I’d come back. If you do, ask to get the check in printed form and ask for a real menu, not a QR code (Don’t know why this even remained a thing after COVID). Best thing I ordered was the dessert.

Paid a bit over $200 for 3 people including the 2% tip and the mandatory surcharge because of “increased menu prices”.

Even if you have a valid reason to cancel, this restaurant will still charge you a cancellation fee. The food is middle of the road, cocktails are good, and service is ok. I’ve been popping in for a long time but will be taking my business elsewhere. With the amount of reservations available on prime nights now, it’s evident that they aren’t doing well. I suggest you try one of the many other places in West Loop.

Updated Visit (6/28/25)

Visited again from a month ago. La Josie continues amazing me. Food and drinks were amazing as last time. We ordered Queso Fundido- Rajas Poblanos, Mariscada, Tres Tacos Barbaco, Cebollitas, and Coconut Horchata Tres Leche.

The flavor of each dish was unmatched. We were satisfied, to say the least. For drinks the Trompibueno and the Fresona to start. We finished with 2 “Dealer’s Choice” cocktails from the bar. There was no disappointment.

Our server V, was exceptional. She was extremely personable. V made plenty of great recommendations for food and drinks. We ultimately choose them.

During the visit, my party requested rooftop seating. Diego did his best and got us seating. Kudos to Diego for his fun, energetic, exceptional service.

Being on the rooftop was exclusive, scenic, and definitely laid back. The rooftop was a wonderful.

The experience was great (5/27/25). Visited with family for birthday celebration. The area was fun and vibrant. The restaurant has a cool, laid-back vibe.

Our server was great. Gathered all of our orders correctly and efficiently. All of the total ranging from asada, Pollo, to vegan were flavorful. Our server recognized the birthday we celebrated.

Drinks were equally amazing. Great experience, for sure. Can’t wait for the next visit.

Food here was fantastic, the salsa was packed with flavor and heat. The tacos were delicious, meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. I washed it down with a refreshing drink from their.cocktail menu. Would definitely come back!
