Wow, what a hidden gem, would definitely return. Super busy for a reason. Highly recommend a reservation. Fresh pasta was delicious and best eggplant parmesan I’ve ever had. The focaccia bread was also amazing. Will definitely return!

Dined at Va Bene Italian Eatery and overall enjoyed the food. We ordered the fried zucca, lobster bisque, Parmigiano Reggiano tagliatelle, the G&D Cup, and an Italian margarita. The lobster bisque is a must-try. There was some confusion when food was dropped off—one server was very quiet, which was an issue since one of us has dietary restrictions. Our main server was friendly, though a bit slow with water and drinks.

My husband ordered the meatloaf openface sandwich special. It was a hunk of meat on a piece of dry toast with a small condiment bowl of mushroom gravy on the side. I ordered a pasta dish that sounded amazing, but was very bland and swimming in oil. We ordered an appetizer of focaccia bread and whipped ricotta cheese. This, too, was bland and disappointing. They did comp my entree, but if they hadn’t, this meal would have been around $60. Not worth it. Will not be going back.

Had a wonderful dinner date with Va Bene. Having the option online to make a reservation made the experience way more preparing.
Our server very talkative and gave us some time review our menus. Food came out in perfect timing, from appetizers immediately to our entrees.
Would definitely give recommendation for italian to anyone in the Prairie Village area.

I’m not sure that I’ve had better food than at Va Bene for a long time. For starters, the complex combination of flavors and ingredients in the mushroom arancini appetizer was simply amazing. The braised beef was some of the best comfort food I’ve ever had. The eggplant Parmesan was certainly good, though like a perennial middle child, was outshone when compared to the other standout offerings mentioned previously. Add the lemon cello cake, and you have a nearly perfect meal. Molto Bella, Van Bene!

If you’re searching for an Italian restaurant that sets the perfect mood for a Friday night, look no further. This place truly impresses with its elegant and cozy ambiance.
The drinks were good. We ordered the pizza, roasted mushrooms, and chicken Sorrentino, and everything was delightful. The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust with rich, flavorful toppings. The roasted mushrooms were a savory treat, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken Sorrentino was a standout, with tender chicken and a delicious blend of flavors.
While the prices felt a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food made it worth it. Overall, it’s a great spot for a special night out. Highly recommended for those who appreciate good Italian cuisine and a lovely dining atmosphere.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Terrible service and food. Ordered calamari for an appetizer and half it of it was fried jalapeños and peppers. No surprise this was one of the last Italian restaurants with tables open on Valentine’s Day. Don’t waste money here it’s not even worth the drive. Bartender was rude it was clear she was annoyed with doing her job and not friendly. The one drink we got was very good though.

We visited on a Saturday evening in which there was no wait time. That should have clued us in to the quality of the food we were about to receive.
Atmosphere wise the restaurant was clean and cute, but there were several fruit flies in the air.
For an appetizer, we had the ricotta and focaccia as well as the meatballs. Those were both pretty good. The disappointment came in the entrees. The mafaldine was genuinely the worst dish I’ve been served at a restaurant. My whole group tried it and everyone was disgusted with it. It tasted bland and somehow dirty, like unwashed vegetables. We couldn’t eat it at all. The orecchiette was alright, as well as the sweet corn agnolotti. Every dish was severely lacking in salt and depth of flavor. We left every plate unfinished and did not take anything home with us.
The server was kind and friendly but not overly attentive.
Overall I would not return or waste my money at this restaurant.
