Canal Fulton gets a cool new spot for food and drink
Reviews
Might try again and get a different dish, but I’m not keen on the idea.
I was blown away by the fact that their Thai tea is refillable! Some places will charge you upwards of $5 for one glass, here they’ll generously keep refilling and providing creamer.
Ate there today 12/23/2014 at 6 P.M. The service was abysmal. We were seated immediately (party of 3), waited 20 minutes for drink order to be taken (so did 3 other tables). We ordered food at same time as drink order, I ordered extra drinks (given the time it took to take our order to begin with). My wife who does not care for vegetables asked if she could sub veggies for noodles, the waitress replied with “no problem”. 30 minutes later our food arrives and the waitress tells us, “sorry the chef did not want to cook noodles as a sub” so sorry no substitute. It would have been nice to know this before the food was brought to our table. We could ordered and paid the whole extra $2 dollars for a bowl of noodles, too late now.
The wait staff (2 waitresses) never smiled at any customer and looked depressed, like they would rather kill themselves than serve another customer. My personal opinion of this is, they are being oppressed by a overbearing manager or chef. I was a waiter before, I know what that is like.
Now the food. I had the shrimp pot $16.00, not impressed. It wasn’t bad, but $16.00 for big bowl of basically noodles, cabbage, pea pods and 5 shrimp, when combined was as bland as bland can be. A little salt or seasoning would have been welcome.
My wife had the Thai Chicken, blaa! Nothing but (what tasted like) pre grilled frozen chicken soaked in a mystery liquid to disguise the dryness of the chicken.
The only thing I did like was the bottled beer and the décor.
They can’t even sub noodles for veggies? How much are they really saving? Now they have lost a customer/family and maybe more because of this review, over a plate of noodles. That was the tipping point for me, after paying for an overpriced meal that was “so, so”, they can’t sub veggies or even tell us in advance so we can order them and pay the $2.
If the place was packed I could understand a little, I would estimate it was 3/4 full.
Save your money and go to Canal Grille in the same town. Much better selection, service and bang for your buck.
