We are a cozy neighborhood, polished casual Italian American Fusion restaurant with a menu featuring pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and composed entree’s. We also feature craft cocktails, beers and an extensive wine list. We are conveniently located in West Des Moines on the corner of 50th street and Mills Civic Parkway. Everything about our dinner was amazing! The entire staff was fantastic and really excelled with their customer service. They provided excellent recommendations for both food and wine pairings. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We were caught off guard by their vast selection of bottles of wine covering every region and price point. It’s a beautiful scene with some sweet Jazz playing in the background- low enough to have a deep conversation, if you like. My Autumn aperol Spritz was phenomenal beautifully crafted wonderfully layered and very tasty, the lovely dish that I ate – full of halibut, shrimp, and mussels was convincingly authentic with all of the seafood accentuate ingredients that they put into that SAUCE!!! CHEF’S KISS…and I do mean it! Wonderful is what I call the Urban Cellar.

The pricing is great. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was amazing! I had salmon, asparagus, seafood chowder, we also had some really good calamari. I tried a German Reisling, and an Italian Rosé which were both great. They do also have mixed drinks (hubby is not a wine guy) Oh, and I took a piece of key lime pie to go that was really good. All around great experience.

Rachel, our server was very friendly and super efficient. My lunch daye and I shared the beet and steak tip salad and the chicken deburgo. Both were amazing. Had the onion Stix with Chipotle sauce for dipping. Great flavors. Overall a wonderful experience with very reasonable prices. Can’t wait to go back.

I have to say I WAS BLOWN AWAY! I attended a business dinner of 20. We had a perfect sized meeting room near the bar and the bathroom. Our server was spot on. Able to manage the group with no complaints. Even stepped in at the perfect time to encourage us to place our order before a larger party also there, put in their order. I ordered a filet that was actually cooked spot on. The cheddar polenta and salad were just as respectable. I will be bringing back my wife. This is a no brainer, and I’m not that easy to impress. Keep up the good work!

We were in town for a week celebrating a belated birthday/early anniversary. I enjoy finding delicious food options & sometimes it is hit or miss with new (to us) restaurants.
This gem was definitely a HIT!! Will definitely be back! I have a bit of a salty palate & yesterday’s lunch (at a different unnamed restaurant), I had to add salt 5x….definitely not an issue here!
The food was DELICIOUS, very well seasoned & generous portions!
Since we’re staying at a hotel this week, I ordered some food for dinner as well, so we didn’t have to go back out, which, it turns out, we probably didn’t need as we had so many leftovers, but I also couldn’t decide what to order, so it’s a win/win for me! Now I have dinner & breakfast covered!
My husband had the Betta’ Chedda’ burger with fries. The fries were crispy & well seasoned & the burger was delicious.
I had the Peppercorn Steak Deburgo with cheddar polenta as my side. It was fantastic! Delicious, plentiful & so well seasoned. The cheddar polenta had a mushroom/tomato gravy/sauce that I hadn’t expected, but was amazing. The steak was tender, well cooked, well seasoned & so yummy! It also had a mushroom/garlic/herb gravy, and it paired well with the polenta.
I ordered the Mushroom Pizza for dinner…had to try a bite for quality control …Yum! I don’t normally like red onions raw (prefer pickled), but chose to try it as it was & it sure didn’t disappoint either!
Can’t wait to come back to Urban Cellar! Kenna, our server, was cheerful, friendly, helpful & attentive! The other staff members we interacted with also asked how everything was & we’re friendly & helpful!
Can’t say enough about this restaurant! It’s affordable, tasty, a great atmosphere, clean, and a must visit option! I had hoped to try the sea bass, which it turns out they don’t offer at lunch, but that just means we’ll have to try again some evening!

We were there for lunch yesterday. The onion string appetizer with a spicy dipping sauce was surprisingly amazing. I had a salmon sandwich with sweet potato fries. My husband had a steak grinder. Both had great taste. We received a complimentary cheese cake since it was our first visit there. All dishes had a great presentation. This is really a classy gem.
They have a nice wine selection and the wine is not to expensive.
Indoor and outdoor seating. No wait during lunchtime and food came fast.
Really nice and calm atmosphere although they had a few tvs near our table, they weren’t loud or distracting.
Zoey, our waitress was so sweet and patient as we did need some time decide what to order.

Very good food and prices. All the plates we ordered were good and well prepared. They have a lot of Gluten Free option for those intollerant. We have grilled calamari instead the fried one and they were excellent. Seared Ahi Tuna . Also pork chop and steak. They have very nice selection of wine in the market area and corking is only $10

We had a very good experience at Urban Cellar! Our server recommended the Mulberry Mule which was excellent! Our meals were very good but the wife did feel there was a lot of skins in the mashed potatoes. The chocolate cake for dessert was delectable. Our server could have been a bit more attentive as it took her a really long time to finally get our bill out to us after we were finished eating but in the grand scheme of things that was pretty minor. This was a great place for the wife & I to have a nice date night.
