Town to get chain barbecue restaurant – The BayNet
Reviews
The pulled pork plate was good, but did notice that this time it tasted like they used a lot of liquid smoke on it as it had a bad bitter aftertaste. I had to use a lot of sauce on it to help mask some of the taste. The baked beans was tasty, and the coleslaw was crunchy and not soggy.
As there are not many bbq places in Southern Maryland, much less good ones, this one ranks higher on the scale and would come back for more. They just need to scale back on the smoky taste.
The bads: Old bay wings were very bland (how do you even do that with Old Bay?), french fries were extremely salty, burnt end beans were mostly super sweet soup with some beans thrown in, pulled chicken, french fries, and ribs all came out cold, collard greens were extremely salty.
The ugly: Ribs were mostly liquid smoke… To the point of being inedible. The corn bread was not your mama’s cornbread. I can’t figure out if it is made with tapioca or rice flour or something, but it was gummy… And … Well… Weird. And bland.
In short, this is not the BBQ restaurant you are looking for.
Last, the sauces/dressings for the meat: There’s not a single one that’s not filled with sugar of some sort. Typically BBQ places will have ‘Carolina Style’ dressing which is basically vinegar and a few spices mixed in. That same dressing at Urban BBQ has molasses in it for some reason. Please, guys, not everything has to be sweet!
Nice smoke ring and bark on the brisket but was sliced quite thick, about as thick as a breakfast chop which was a slight distractor.
Pulled pork was ok but not much flavor without the addition of 1 of their 5 sauces. (The yellow and Carolina were my favorite with the pork).
The sides stole the show as both the beans and collards were outstanding!
The cornbread muffin wasn’t very note worthy.
Had to try the Draught Rootbeer and it was very good as well.
Overall average food at a premium price but with great fast service. Seems to be just another francise brisket joint but will hold off my final opinion until I try their ribs
Diff’ worth a try since BBQ isn’t a big staple in this area but they have a ways to go to compete with Bear Creek!
Disclaimer: Texas BBQ isn’t my thing!
Hello! acknowledge your customer when they are right in your face.
At least three young girls were behind the counter laughing and joking.
Looks like bad management and poor customer service training.
We left and no ones says anything. know why this place looks empty now every time we pass by.
Plus it’s overpriced for bbq.
Thanks for wasting my time but not my money.
