Upstreet Diner has taken over the former Pamela’s location at the corner of Forbes and Murray in Squirrel Hill, and after our visit, it’s already carving out a strong identity of its own—especially when it comes to the food.

Part of our party arrived just before we did, so we were seated quickly. Our table was in the front room, well lit by the large garage-style windows that would likely be perfect to open during warmer months. The atmosphere leaned toward a contemporary diner aesthetic, with modern touches in a cozy space.

Our server stopped by within a couple of minutes to get us started with coffee, which was exactly what you’d hope for at a breakfast-focused spot—solid and satisfying. When they returned, we placed our orders, and the food arrived about 15–20 minutes later.

From the table, I tried the Deluxe-Shuka, Biscoff pancakes, and the salmon omelet. The Deluxe-Shuka—featuring two eggs, cevapi, and potatoes in a house-made tomato sauce topped with sheep feta, green onions, harissa, and served with pita—was the standout. The tomato sauce really made the dish, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, making it a refreshing yet hearty brunch option.

The Biscoff pancakes were light and fluffy, and the combination of powdered sugar, crumbled Biscoff cookies, chocolate hazelnut spread, and fresh whipped cream made for an indulgent griddle choice without feeling overly heavy.

The salmon omelet, filled with spinach, onion, and sun-dried tomatoes and topped with smoked salmon and labnhe, was another excellent plate. The rye toast paired beautifully with the richness of the omelet, while the side salad added freshness thanks to a bright, citrusy dressing. The salmon finished the dish nicely, and the labnhe—a yogurt-based cheese—brought a tangy depth reminiscent of cream cheese and lox.

Throughout the meal, our server checked in regularly, refilling our coffees and attending to any requests we had. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience and would recommend Upstreet Diner to anyone looking for a good breakfast or brunch spot in the area.

Absolutely love this diner and hard pressed to say what my favorite might be as everything is delicious. What stands out is the precision and care in every single dish. I’ve never once had a bad experience, which says a lot! Extremely reasonable prices as well. I recommend the shashuka, the Cyprus, the spinach/feta omelette (pictured), the Denver(pictured) and their pancakes (pictured) are some of the best around, and I don’t really care for pancakes overall. Lovely people running the place as well.

Very flavorful! My burger was awesome! Very complex flavors that came together perfectly. The extra side of halloumi gave it an extra bump of salt. Pancakes were great, very layered flavors with very pleasant syrup. The yoghurt in the granola could use work but everything was great. Highly recommend.

Very nice place! They predominantly serve breakfast food, but they also have some more substantial meals they offer for lunch, as well as salads and such. Predominantly a Mediterranean and American place. I got to try out their chicken pita.

The chicken pita was essentially a chicken shawarma with a pita. The food was super fresh, especially the vegetables. So crisp and light. The sauces they used also added a ton of flavor, with some creaminess, a little sweetness, and overall just adding that extra punch. I especially like the red sauce they use (although I’m not entirely sure what it is).

The chicken itself, though, was not as good. It was too fatty and also didn’t seem anywhere near as fresh as the vegetables did. The pita they served it with was pretty great and helped mask the slightly below par chicken.

All in all, a nice place to get a healthy breakfast or lunch. I would want to come back to try some of the sweet items or the classic breakfast dishes.

I order breakfast from here all the time because it’s so fabulous. I really feel like they care about the food they are preparing even if it is a simple breakfast. Everything tastes superior because they just go the extra mile with the ingredients and flavors. I will make an effort to stop in and eat. For now it’s going to be my go to order breakfast spot. I’m stuck on the simple breakfast scramble. The French toast is delicious as well. Eventually, over time I hope to sample most of the menu. So yummy.

I was pleasantly surprised. Stopped here unexpectedly… just found myself hungry and used Google to see what was nearby.

The coffee was hot, the eggs were cooked to perfection (its difficult, it seems, to get eggs over easy… but this place was right on the money!) At first I thought the pancakes might be dry and overcooked. But once I buttered up and tried their maple butter, it was delicious. Really, really good.

Perfect way to start the day in the heart of Squirrel hill. 10 stars for food, service and interior! I have to say, we enjoyed every single bite, unique food experience. Stunning patio zone, welcoming atmosphere, delicious menu. My favorites are Benedict, all kinds of omelettes, french toasts and pancakes, shakshuka, chicken pita and cheeseburger. Can’t wait to get back to my favorite place for breakfast and lunch!

Tried this diner for the first time since they took over this space. Loved the Middle Eastern influence on the menu! They had a nice assortment of options. For my breakfast, I tried the Ful Medames, which was stewed fava beans with boiled eggs over salad with pita. So tasty! My friend got the salmon omelette and said it was also delicious. Good choice for breakfast/lunch.
