Walked in, the restaurant was spotless and so inviting. We were greeted by the most amazing aroma of garlic and crab, and the owners beautiful smile. The plate was packed full of meat and the rice was banging, best rice and peas I’ve tried from a Caribbean spot. And to top it off she gave us a little red baggy w chocolates and the dopest pen. Honestly I’m coming back because you can tell that this is a very thought out and loved business. Not only was the food great, especially for the price, but the owner and environment topped off my experience. This was awesome. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

So my wife and I made a last-minute stop to Poughkeepsie New York. We are a little over an hour and 45 minutes away. We ordered the roadie and we did like a sort of curry vegetable concoction that included like beans and tofu man. Oh man, it was out of this world highly recommend The owner was very very sweet very welcoming great great vibes highly highly recommend.

Delicious Jamaican food with super friendly service. Chef owner Garfield delivers fine food. My family ordered and can recommend goat curry, braised oxtail, rasta pasta with jerk chicken, and chicken soup. I have a vegetarian diet, so Garfield adjusted ackee and festivals for my diet. The homemade juices are yummy, especially pineapple juice, sorrell, and the peanut butter smoothie.

Magnificently delicious! We will undoubtedly be returning! Our family of four dined in after reviewing Upstream Cafe’s 5 star reviews. This business wholly deserves their exceptional rating. The food was delicious and generously portioned with a short wait time. We ordered the Rasta pasta, curry goat, and oxtail. We also enjoyed some of their crisp beverages. Above all, the owners were genuinely welcoming and warm-hearted. Come here to enjoy some hearty food and support a lovely family-owned establishment!

I had an amazing experience at this Jamaican restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—authentic flavors, perfectly seasoned, and served fresh. The oxtail dish tasted like it was made with love and care. I’m from West Virginia so we really don’t get much of this type of authentic cuisine and restaurants.
What really stood out, though, was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner personally greeted me and made sure we felt right at home. Their friendliness and genuine hospitality added so much to the overall experience—it truly felt like visiting family.
I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great Jamaican food and even better service!

Tasty, flavorful food with a warm welcoming and great prices! The small plate of curry chicken for $8.50 was well-seasoned and tender. The vegan options are also a must-try! The oyster mushrooms with peas ‘n’ rice will not disappoint!

We have been enjoying the food at Upstream Cafe since it’s Grand Opening. Since then, we have brought our family, friends and business associates to eat there and they all LOVED the food.
Maria and I planned our wedding this month and thought it would be a great idea to have Upstream cater one of the meals — all our friends and family were excited about having “Upstream” as part of our weekend menu.
We ordered rice and peas, oxtails and stewed chicken; it was a big hit— Our family and friends could not get enough, they LOVED the food!!!~ Chef Garfield put his culinary skills deep up in that meal.
Also, our catering order was ready on time and the total transaction was smooth and easy. If you are looking for exceptional food at a great price, in a welcoming atmosphere, check out UpSteam Cafe, you will not be disappointed.
