Upstairs Grill Steak and Seafood has a wide array of dishes, including steak and seafood prepared in our wood-burning oven and grill! We also have veal, pasta & chicken. We also have a kids menu for the little ones. Our family restaurant uses only fresh ingredients to prepare our homemade menu items using our family recipes.

Stopped in to try this place after a day off hiking, was craving a good seafood pasta. I got their shrimp and scallops Romano, which sounded amazing with the Mediterranean flavors and sherry wine sauce. When I got it I was supremely disappointed. The dish consisted of only 2 scallop and 3 shrimp, a smattering of veggies and a heaping pile of linguine that tasted more like a butter sauce than a garlic sherry sauce. The dish definitely had potential, and I was starving so I ate the whole thing. It was not Bad, it tasted ok, but for $39 I would have hoped for more than 3 shrimp and 2 scallop.

We came at 3pm because we wanted wood fire pizza… only to find out that the pizza is on the dinner menu and that didn’t start until 3:30. Bummer. Thankfully our server checked and they were preparing for dinner and we were able to order pizza a few minutes early!! They are now off a personal sized pizza (cut in 4 slices) and it was fantastic!! We ordered classic cheese and buffalo chicken pizza.. amazing! Our table also for a lamb gyro & lasagna. Great food!

Food was downright inedible. French onion soup my parents got looked genuinely horrid. Akin to packet soup with croutons and enough salt to kill someone. The pizza my friends had looked school cafeteria level. Sauce was worse than something you’d find in a jar and the cheese slid off like it was trying to escape the monstrosity of a pie. Finally, my chicken parm was so horrible I couldn’t bring myself to finish the vial pile of it on my plate. Sauce tasted like it came straight from a can and it was drowned in the stuff. It was breaded about as well as a frozen microwave chicken tender that you soaked in river water and it was then laid upon a pile of sopping wet angel hair. To add on to the barrage of prison slop we were fed, it then cost 112 dollars. I’ve been to many truly horrible establishments in my life, but in regard to food quality and pricing this is going for the gold medal as the worst restaurant I’ve gone to. Do not brutally assault your mouth and your wallet by giving yourself the disservice of going here.

Came for the food, left with a beach. Seafood was terrible. Overcooked, sandy and shells in every bite. The seafood was not fresh, washed and no one checked on the quality before it was sent out. The lobster was frozen and cooked for what looked like 30 minutes. Really poor quality food for a $55 menu item at Lake Placid. The cooks seemed uninterested as they scrolled through social media instead of checking on the food. The place was dead while other places were extremely crowded.
Stay downstairs and skip going up.

Came here two Fridays in a row. First time I was there with a friend and we both ordered the ribeye med/rare…we both got our steaks med well, we both hiked all day so didn’t want to bother sending it back and ate it. We assumed maybe they misunderstood our order.
I returned last Friday and hesitated to go eat there again but it was late and it was one of the few restaurants still serving after 9pm. This time my friend again ordered his steak med/rare and myself I ordered rare this time(hoping to get med/rare) My Friends steak comes well done this time and mine was the wrong type of steak I ordered. I sent it back and asked the waiter to please make sure it was rare. I kid you not the steak comes back like 2 mins later and it’s raw! They probably did a 30 second sear on each side. Honestly I was starving from hiking all day so I ate what I could. I even showed it to the waiter what was left and he gave me a look of shock and said I’ll give you a discount. There was zero discount when the bill came
For the price you pay and the added 18 percent automatic tip I would assume they could cook a steak but apparently not on a Friday. Maybe the other stuff is ok but I definitely won’t be returning. Staff was friendly at least. Not sure how this place stays open, must rely on tourists coming and going.
It’s very rare I give 1 star reviews as I hate hurting someone’s business but you really have to do better guys. Most of the other restaurants in lake placid are top notch!

We came here just after the lunch rush and we were hoping to get a steak. Well they only offer that on the dinner menu. So ordered a Ruben and I have to say it was the worst ruben I ever had. The sauerkraut was ice cold, the bread tasted stale and the thousand island dressing was funky. Two bites of the Ruben my appetite was ruined. We sent it back and I didn’t order anything else. The service was slow, our waiter was more interested in talking to the waitress than serving us. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant and a party of two. It took over 45 mins to get our meal and the meal was OVERPRICED with a REQUIRED tip of a min of 10%. Spare yourself and go to some place else. This isn’t it if you want edible food.

Passing through Lake Placid and tried the Upstairs Grill for dinner and it hit the spot. I had a traditional calzone with prosciutto and it was delish! Family had the Black Angus ribeye, NY strip, and the wood seared scallops and all were pretty good. Beware of the pricey menu but the food was pretty good for this tourist trap.

This place is an overpriced, run-down dump. It is a steakhouse that doesn’t even have steak on their menu. Service is terrible, drinks are bad and almost $20, charges heavy fees for using a credit card, Christmas decorations still up in late February. Not a positive thing to say about this place. 0/10.

Had a craving for steak and stopped in here for a late dinner. Service was great, food was delicious! It was clearly marked that there would be an extra charge to pay with credit card. I was not billed a tip automatically. I would definitely return!

The service was slow, the food was just ok, but the bad part was the deceptive tipping process. They add an automatic tip onto your bill but near the total they have suggested tipping amounts, I did not notice the automatic tip and wrote in an additional tip. I noticed my error in the car and called, I was told it happens all the time and they would credit the extra tip amount back….when we got our statement they DID NOT credit the extra tip. I called the restaurant to get this corrected and I was told they could not credit my account; it has happened before and will happen again so I should just call my credit card company. The manager was very rude!
UPDATE: When I was there and noticed the extra tip, right after we left the restaurant, I called right away and explained that I had added an extra tip in error (the receipt is deceptive) I was told it happens all the time and that the extra tip would be credited back. When we got our statement three weeks later the extra tip was NOT credited back. I then called back (it took many days before someone answered the phone) I asked to speak to the manager and the person who answered the call said that they were, if that person lied how was I to know? That person was very rude and told me what I typed above.
