We offer a very unique and distinctive atmosphere in Apalachicola. Our menu will give diners something they can’t find anywhere else, in terms of ingredients, creativity and taste. Our staff is attentive but noninvasive, with the kind of impeccability that only comes from years of training.
We feature upscale location for the 21 & over crowd. That’s right, no one under 21, even if they are with a parent. We offer quiet dining where patrons can get away from the bustling crowds. Up To No Good Tavern has signature cocktails, an extensive martini list and an evolving wine list. We also have a nice selection of bottled craft beers. We have small plate dining in the lounge and a full menu in the dining room.

Up To No Good Tavern at The Grill in Apalachicola feels like a true small-town local restaurant rather than a tourist stop. You order at the register and the food is brought out to your table, and the service style is straightforward and no-nonsense. The person taking our order has worked there for 25 years and pointed us toward what locals typically order, mentioning that she especially loves the shrimp, which turned out to be great advice.
I went with the grilled grouper and shrimp combo with homemade potato salad (with bacon and sour cream). Both the grouper and shrimp were outstanding, light, flaky, and cooked perfectly. Grilling instead of frying really let the quality of the seafood stand out. We also shared half of a Cuban sandwich, which leaned more tavern-style than traditional but was hot, melty, and very good.
The food came out quickly during lunch, and the overall experience felt authentic rather than polished. The Florida Panhandle feels more like South Alabama than the Florida many people expect, and this place fits that relaxed, local vibe perfectly.
If you’re looking for fresh Gulf seafood and a genuine local atmosphere, this is well worth a stop.

Went for lunch. The food was great and nice portions. I had the Muffaletta Flatbread Sandwich with a side onion rings. The onion rings were small shoestring size and they were great. The olive tapenade was very tasty. My sister had the BLFGT Sandwich with side of Tator Tots. She got a side of the Horseradish Mayonnaise and it was a nice addition to the sandwich. We also had the Parmesan Crusted Zucchini Fries with the ranch. The ranch dip was great. We sat outside.

Only high top chairs, which i usually avoid. Service was great, food was amazing, good size portions. My husband got the flounder sandwich and I got the grouper sandwich. I did not realize until after we ordered that the grouper was $29! There were 6 mini grouper bites on my sandwich. Too expensive for that. Flounder had like 6 filets and was more than plenty and only cost $16.

This is a great casual place to eat. You can sit outside and people watch. Plenty of seating inside with AC too! It’s on the corner of this charming town on the “forgotten coast”. We ordered some fresh grouper and shrimp! Delicious ! Of course we had to have cold sweet tea…we are in the south! You go up to the bar and order your food and once it’s ready it is brought to your table.

Went there twice. The first time the bartender was good but her shift ended and the next 2 that came on complained about the party of 25 that were in the back room and service was notably slower.
Went in the following day and waited 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and the bartender said we had to walk 10 feet to the register to order drinks. Ok, did that yet one of our party of 4 waited to take the drinks back, she ignored him and delivered the drinks to our spot at the bar. We left asap and went elsewhere. The first day we ordered pizzas. They were the same flatbread that we buy at Aldi. They tasted good but fairly overpriced for something you could make at home. Disappointed and will never go back. Definitely need to work on their customer service.

Can’t say much about the rest of their food but they make one of the best Caesar salads I’ve had. They’re in my top 3 for Caesar salad. That’s not very helpful for a review, I know. The staff are nice & there’s outdoor seating options available.
*edit* actually, my husband had tacos from here and he said they’re were really good. His step dad ordered a burger and he also enjoyed that a lot.

Overall, this place is rated as a 3.5. It’s an informal restaurant and reasonably priced with friendly staff. This is a restaurant where it’s best to order burgers and chicken sandwiches. You would want to avoid Mexican, Italian, and anything else outside that genre. The chicken sandwich was a good size, and was paired well with good pickles, a red tomato, and Romaine lettuce. The French fries were a good side with that good savory crust on the outside. I saw they had homemade desserts in a glass case by the entrance, which I think is worth a try. They also have an option that if you pay in cash, they will take 10% off your meal.

Great place we wouldn’t have found if it weren’t for a lucky tip from a local. Server April took great care of us. Drinks arrived quickly, and wine flight pours were VERY generous. We ordered the special shrimp and crab dip and it was excellent – served with delicious house made chips. We had the special white pizza and added roasted garlic (which I highly recommend) and a “build your own” with red sauce, pepperoni, mushroom, banana peppers, and artichoke hearts. Both pizzas were incredible! The red sauce was flavorful without being too acidic. The white pizza was cheesy and indulgent. So excited to find a new treasure in Apalachiacola. Look forward to many trips in the future!

So we decided to stop here after exploring the forgotten coast. I have a gluten intolerance, and thought it would be safe to order a Greek salad. No where on the menu did it specify that the Greek salad also comes with croutons and a bread roll. It tasted great but I feel like that’s very poor management and appealing to those of us who have dietary restrictions. In addition, no servers come to tables, you must order at the bar. I feel like those things should be disclosed on the menu!!

A new but old place. We stopped here for dinner and glad we did. We had the fried green tomatoes (just a hint of spicy in them!), the Italian hero sandwich and a salad. All were amazing. Our friends had the flatbread pizza which looked really good too. We finished things off with a yummy chocolate martini. The bar is cozy with just a few TVs. Easy place to meet for drinks. They have space outside that will be fun when the weather warms up.
