First time trying this spot and I must say 10/10. Everything I tried was delicious. Black owned restaurants. Will definitely be back. The owner let me sample his sweet potato fries with a marshmallow dipping sauce omg I’m going back just for the sweet potato fries. Go try you won’t be disappointed. I got the combo with the shrimp, fish and chips with a henny cola da.

This place is awesome. My food was done in about 5 minutes, it was hot and fresh! The service was warm/pleasant and done right. They definitely had cop & go in mind with the quality of the food. I drove 20 min home and the entire meal held well! It was delicious. I will definitely be back!

I ordered the Fish & Chicken Basket at Unks Fish and Chips, and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint. The fish came out bright golden and absolutely beaming with flavor. Perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, easily some of the best fish I’ve had in a long time.
The homemade tartar sauce? Elite. Fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the fish. I’m already planning my return visit just thinking about it.
And the sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce were a pleasant surprise! Everything was a hit. Fresh, flavorful, and great staff. Unks Fish and Chips has officially earned a repeat customer.

I think this is my new favorite fish place. I love fish and chips and this place was great for a great price. 4 fried fillets and a pile of fries with tarter sauce and a delicious custom yellow sauce they make… for $12 (Oct 2025).

I really appreciate the genre-adjacent openings of two Black-owned fried fish/soul restaurants so close together right now. Between Unk’s Fish and Chips and, more recently, Make My Fish (a Harlem staple expanding to its second location in the suburbs), this is such a welcome addition to the vernacular of food offerings available in the Yonkers and lower Westchester area.
For my first visit to Unk’s, I got a nice spread: the all fish, all shrimp, fish and fries, and chicken and fries. First and foremost, the portions here are extremely generous. A $60 order provided more than enough food for two days’ worth of meals. You can just tell these portions are truly for the people and intended to serve the community it was built for. I am incredibly happy to support this business. Even the sauces were abundant, they gave me so much that the extra will find use in my pantry for weeks to come!
As for the food itself, the fish leans on the thinner side and is well-seasoned, albeit a bit heavy-handed. That salt-forward profile is pretty par for the course with this genre of food, and their great array of condiments perfectly helps to mellow it out. The shrimp was a massive highlight. I think this particular area is used to being skimped on when it comes to shrimp portions, but Unk’s offers a truly excellent value-to-price ratio without compromising on freshness, size, or taste.
I hate to frame a review by comparing it to another local spot, but Make My Fish is my only real reference point for this specific cuisine right now. While I personally prefer the general seafood quality and seasoning profile at Make My Fish a bit more, Unk’s is the absolute, clear-cut “bang for your buck” winner. Honestly, there is a time and a place for both, and I am genuinely glad they coexist in this moment together.

This is a great place to get fresh whiting. Not the frozen strips. I hade the Shrimp and fish platter with the sweet potatoe fries. The sweet potatoe fries has a special seasoning you MUST try. It comes with a marshmallow side. Yummy. If your watching your weight…you can skip the marshmallow. But for the rest of us, it was a great treat. The owners and service was efficient and friendly. It is a to go location and everything is outside. Don’t let that scare you, it worth the trip.

I am OBSESSED with Unk’s 3 piece fish sandwich and sweet potato fries . I haven’t even got to try anything else because this is what I order every time I go. The drinks are fire. All the food is very well seasoned and absolutely delicious. 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

First time I stopped was yesterday trust me I am hooked the fish chicken and sweet potato fries superb the cake impeccable customer service 10 star friendly and professional because I don’t want to go somewhere and spend my money and the merchants Act like they have an attitude..my plan was to buy one fish sandwich as soon as I bit into the sandwich I was like let me get one for my hubby and I was informed on the weekends is when they have desserts I got two pieces of cake too bad my husband didn’t get to eat one the plan was for him to have one but that cake was so good I’m sorry I ate both pieces.. sweet potato fries were superb with the marshmallow dipping, the young lady that works there suggested I try the marshmallow dipping I told her I hate marshmallows she said just try it OMG I’m hooked for life worldwide.. I was told by the staff they change the grease everyday Food speaks for itself and 1000% when you ask for fried fish sandwich it is Whiting not tilapia Pilgrim search no more uncs is all you need I couldn’t even drive home without dipping my fingers in the back to eat some of the chicken strips and the sweet potato fries finally what we’ve been waiting for I am going to be hooked for life.. love this place
