$63 for just 3 of us. I had 2 really good Shrimp tacos. My wife had a large but forgettable Steak & Chorizo burrito and the third entree was 3 disappointing chicken tacos. Also had a small cup of queso. Nothing fancy there either.

I feel more than compelled coming back to edit and add onto this review, now with quite a few more taco encounters at other restaurants behind me. This place is seriously good. Good, as in craving-worthy while across state lines. In fact, it’s been a little ridiculous how often I find myself wishing I could have my usual order from University Tacos, sitting here in Atlanta. I might as well be fully honest and say that this is probably one of the only things that I look forward to whenever I have to come back to Alabama. It’s simple, but I truly appreciate how you can order basic, authentic onion-and-cilantro style tacos with (non-fried) shrimp and fish as the protein. No crema. No five billion toppings. Nothing crazy. Baja-style fish tacos are cool, too, don’t get me wrong, but you better believe that this place has mastered simplicity into something so wonderfully wholesome. The shrimp and fish are seasoned to perfection (and so generous in portion). The corn tortillas always have the perfect texture and subtle masa taste. I wish more taco joints would take note; don’t forget the simple taco styles!
Food aside, the service is always lovely. Prices are perfectly reasonable, and of course, they never forget the complementary chips and salsa with every order. ❤️

Did the Chicken Quesadilla combo with Chips and a drink cost 15 dollars. The chicken didn’t have much of a taste(tastes like Moe”s) the chips was tasteless and the sauce was watered down. The service was ok.the amount of chicken was reasonable, but felt a little greedy with the Didn’t feel like 15 dollars was reasonable maybe 11 but not 15.

One of our most favorite stops to make when we have to visit UAB hospital. The variety of taco and burritos and other various of Mexican food is awesome. The staff is always wonderful.

I got nachos and my wife got a burrito. Both were really good and the portions were large. Her burrito was the biggest I’ve ever seen. Would recommend. Update: We’ve now eaten here several times and the food is always good. I added some photos.

I usually wait until I have tried a place a few times before I review, BUT the Shrimp Tacos that had just a few minutes ago were Great. I am not embellishing this at all, they are easily the second best shrimp Tacos I have ever had. I am not sure about anything else they serve, but it is worth the trip just for the shrimp tacos. I added jalapenos and poured just a little bit of the salsa they provide (for the chips) on the Tacos and WOW.. The other food they were cooking while I was there looked and smelled good. I will be back soon to try other stuff. I was eyeballing the hamburgers they were cooking, that is what I will try next. The cook time on the food was about 15 minutes, BUT they were packed and the food is cooked to order so you will get hot fresh food. There is a small bar to eat at, or outside seating that is limited. I ordered to and left to eat.
ONE small set back, the parking is few and far between. I got there about 11:20 and there was not a spot to park, the other businesses around this place have bought up all the parking and you have to have a permit to park.

Basic tacos nothing good or bad about it. Giving taco bell flavors. Usually pretty packed due to small location. Two small tables outside. Restaurant is basic southside vibes. Old and dusty looking.
