These sell out quick!! Tried a few onigiris and while they were all good – nothing super amazing. Simple flavours, clean taste. Enjoyed the salmon one most – meat ones were ok in comparison. Recommended for a quick snack, as they prepack them to be readily purchased.

Located in Mills Market, a food court with other East Asian eateries.

Unigirl is fantastic onigiri (Japanese rice ball) stand.

The rice was good quality, fluffy and well seasoned. They have a a good selection of fillings such as miso salmon, spicy yuzu chicken and fried chicken. The onigiri were freshly made and delicious.

They also have a variety of Japanese snacks and drinks.

After saving Mills Market on my list of places to try, I explored the different booths they had inside, and UniGirl was my number one spot to get. They open a little later than the market does, but it was worth the wait. I’m a massive lover of onigiri and usually make them myself since there isn’t a place near me that sells them in Jacksonville. I hopped in line a few minutes before they opened since the line was getting long. I decided to get two to try and got the shrimp and chicken. They were delicious! Everything I hoped and dreamed of!! Definitely recommend trying them. I would have ordered more of them to try, but two were filling enough (after eating at other stands in the market). Definitely check them out!

I do not understand the hype. (Place, Japan?) Just like a sushi counter, the most important part of a rice ball shop is, well, the rice. The rice here was way too wet and compressed. They pushed the rice into onigiri molds instead of shaping them by hand, turning them into dense pucks of rice cakes. And, perhaps the greatest sin of all, the nori was not slapped onto the rice right before serving. Just soggy and sad all around.

Fried oysters were pretty good. They smelled a bit fishy but the lemon and tartar sauce masked that well enough. The oysters were quite plump with full bellies.

No major wait in the later afternoon. Nice onigiri with hard to find flavors. Keep an eye out for the specials! The curry hash brown was so good too.

Best onigiri in town so far!!! I tried the Mayo Tuna and it was on another level….creamy, savory, and perfectly balanced. The Salmon had such a fresh, clean flavor, and the Spicy Garlic Crab brought the right kick without being overwhelming. Each onigiri was soft, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Fresh ingredients, great flavor combinations, and amazing quality…UniGirl is definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to often!!!

I live in Japan, these were kinda gross and over priced. Why is there bbq sauce inside?! It was 5.50
For those visiting from Japan/ Korea, I would skip this. American version of rice ball aka onigiri was waste of money.

We went in the afternoon this time, and it was not that bad; only a couple of people were in line. I tried the fried oysters and the fried squid. Both of them were so good with their sauces. Get there early because five minutes before they opened, the line wrapped around to the curry place. But they were really good! I tried a beef sukiyaki; it was sweet, and it was definitely my favorite. I also got the eel, shrimp tempura, and conbini fried chicken ones. The eel one was pretty good, and the shrimp was good, too. The chicken one was a little spicy.

Tucked away inside an enclosed marketplace, this little booth is a true hidden gem. Around 5 PM, the place really comes alive—packed with people who clearly know where the good eats are. The setup is super cute and gives off major Japan vibes, like you’ve stepped into a bustling side street in Tokyo.

Seating is very limited, so it’s best for grab-and-go. I tried both the shrimp and beef, and let me tell you—the shrimp stole the show. It was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The sticky rice was shaped in such a way that it reminded me of the kind you see in anime—adorable and nostalgic at the same time.

One downside: parking can be a nightmare during peak hours. The lot is small, tight, and getting in or out can be a bit of a hassle. But honestly, the food is worth the trouble.

If you’re nearby and craving something flavorful, fast, and a little whimsical—this spot is definitely worth checking out.

Much like the efficient ‘conbini’ (convenience store) in Japan, UniGirl is a fast grab-and-go destination. It provides a curated selection of consistently high-quality food items and satisfying, delicious onigiri (Japanese rice balls) to quickly and effectively curb your hunger.
