Look, can I be honest? I used to live very close to here and I wanted it to be awesome. But then I went in like 2018. Even then, the PBR was like $6. The atmosphere? I’d say it was comparable an unrenovated 1980s DMV waiting room.

My local dive!
Just good, local people and a friendly atmosphere with live music, 2 nice pool tables and a shuffleboard.
No food at this time (besides peanuts,etc) but rumor that TJ’s Roadhouse opening on-site where old Mexican restaurant (now closed) is located.
This area of Grass Valley is beautiful, a short drive to Rollins Lake and the beautiful Yuba River!
Hwy 174 is an awesome ride for those iron horses as well.

New Year’s Eve they had a great little band — F37 was their name, I think. The bartender has a great personality and a sweet little dog. It’s a nice crowd in there. Fun and friendly (I was from out of town), but they engaged. That’s pretty cool for a small local bar where everybody knows everybody. My sister and I had fun.

Great local place. Friendly bartender, friendly locals, nice patio, jukebox, pool table, live jam band sessions on some nights. Good spot for a weeknight out. Drink prices are fair. Dog’s welcome on the patio. Always have a great conversation with a stranger here. Good times!

Cannot give a good review of Uncle Sonny’s. Went there Saturday night to learn line dancing and after how the owner treated my family and fiends we won’t be back and can’t recommend it to anybody. The owner was very rude to us and we felt very uncomfortable. Small crowded dance floor. Band was good and would definitely go and see them at a different venue. Sad, went there hoping it would be a great place to do dancing, nope!

The bar had a band that I enjoyed…a little loud, but good. (Diggin Up Bones.) There was an incident, (actually, a few incidents), that were very uncomfortable involving the (owner?), Vicki, and part of the reason I was there…a line dance lesson. Apparently, (I learned after the fact), Vicki was drinking, (I know. It’s a bar), and became confrontational and obnoxious with people I knew. I ended up leaving early, realizing that the owner was creating the problem. That’s too bad since my thoughts on visiting Sonny’s was that it might be a good venue for Saturday Night dancing. (I’d never been there but had heard they previously had dancing and I knew the instructor this night.) I’m afraid I can’t give a good review, and I’m sorry. I heard it was the owners birthday, but no excuse whatsoever to being rude and mean-spirited to your customers. I probably won’t be returning. 🙁
