Sunday Evening after Church I was craving some italian and what better way than to check out some hot spots North Austin has to offer. Fortunately I was able to find a hole in the wall near Hyde Park. Best decision ever especially the Rigatoni that the gentleman recommended absolutely filling. Ambience is serene not to mention the Cella Biao neon light that was display. Thank you staff. Til next time.

Good little spot, got the Mambo sandwich and it didn’t disappoint, very good Italian sub with very good bread. In a nice friendly neighborhood, and has inside outside dinning.

We stopped by Uncle Nicky’s during their special $2 ice cream day (normally $7), so most people were just popping in for a quick soft serve. But we were actually hungry, so we decided to sit down and try some food while we were there.
It was around 9 PM, and the place was almost empty. The service was pretty slow. When we walked in, the person at the counter seemed to be wrapping up for the night and chatting with a coworker. We had to awkwardly wait for that to finish before we could order. After that, it looked like just one employee was handling everything—taking orders, running food, and keeping things moving. Not ideal, but we tried to keep expectations low.
We ordered the Pepperoni Piadina, which is basically like a warm, cheesy pizza pocket with marinara on the side. Nothing fancy, but honestly, it totally hit the spot. Super cheesy, stuffed with pepperoni, and just comforting in the best way. Even if it was microwaved (some reviews mention that), we didn’t care—it tasted good and was exactly what we wanted in that moment.
We also got the meatballs, which were a solid choice. The sauce was a little more liquidy than I expected, but it had good flavor—kind of creamy with a bit of tang. The toasted sourdough it came with wasn’t anything special on its own, but it was perfect for soaking up the sauce.
To feel like I was being slightly healthy, I ordered a Caesar salad. It was exactly what you’d expect—nothing new or exciting—but the portion was big, and I was actually happy to be full of lettuce.
Of course, we had to try the ice cream, since it was the main event. (we happened to order the last 2 cups of the day) I added the espresso syrup for $1 more, which tasted like it might’ve been house-made. It was rich and had a strong coffee flavor, which I liked. At the promo price, it was great. But at the regular $7 + $1 syrup price? Not sure I’d go out of my way for it. The portion is pretty small—think mini McFlurry size.
Overall, we left pleasantly surprised. The food was better than we expected. I’d be down to come back and try more—especially when I’m in the mood for something casual and comforting.

My friends and I came to Uncle Nicky’s for lunch this week.

First, I was surprised to find Uncle Nicky’s wasn’t terribly big, but it was a super cute spot. I loved the bright, natural light.

Next, the service for our meal was great. Suzy took our order and got everything right. She was very friendly and helpful as we made our decisions as well.

Now, on to the food/drinks. I got the Sunset Spritz cocktail which I highly recommend. The three of us pretty much split the food. We had the Fonduta, Cesar Salad, Chicken Alfredo, Mambo sandwich, and a cannoli.

The Fonduta we really tasty. It’s like the Italian version of queso fundido with red chili paste, pesto, and a raw egg. It went great with the foccacia. The Cesar and Alfredo complemented each other nicely. I didn’t feel either the salad or the pasta was over dressed. While I didn’t get a bite of the Mambo sandwich, it sure did look good. Finally, the cannoli was great. The shell was nice and crunchy and was perfectly filled with cream.

I look forward to coming back to try more items on the menu.

Incredible spot! Great food for a great price! The happy hour was a nice surprise and the little snacks they dish out were very tasty. The meatballs were definitely the star here. I highly suggest you try them! The patio is a vibe and the staff here were very chill. We got some spritzes and I highly suggest getting them! We’ll be back for sure!

We loved this place before they changed the menu awhile back. The food is not nearly as good as before. They changed ingredients and my breakfast sandwich this morning tasted like chemicals. The mambo used to be my fave Italian sandwich in Austin but now you are way better off just going to homeslice. Not sure what is going on here. Used to be one of our fave spots.

Excellent value. The price was right. The anti pasta was better than the main. I loved the little anti pasta bar. I think the meatballs were just not my style. Many others had them and seemed way more enthused. I loved the staff – the guy who helped me was awesome. The atmosphere was great. Park behind the restaurant. Excellent lunch or brunch spot.

I’ve been needing to do a review! On this place, as I stumbled on it last week and ordered off of Uber Eats as my first time from this place and I found myself consistently ordering through the week for dinner and trying many dishes.

First was the Roasted Chicken Alfredo with a vanilla Cruller, to which I’ve never tried before, but afterward, I could kill easily a dozen of these cruller as it was fresh and the texture was a cross in my mind of a churro and cake rolled in a donut. So I’d take these over a Krispy Kreme donut or others in Austin.
the roasted chicken Alfredo was amazing, and I was shocked how great it was that I didn’t savor the taste long enough as I devoured it within a minute, to which it was a great portion The next day, i got Mama Nicky’s Lasagna and I could continue in deep details on every dish, but it was all amazing because I kept ordering every day getting Spaghetti & Pork Meatballs then Meatball sub.
I’m going to go to this restaurant and eat the menu practically because I definitely enjoyed everything from this place.

Such a good lunch spot in Austin!

A friend of mine took me here and I was so surprised with how delicious this place was. We each got sandwiches, and the uncle Nicky’s latte.

I’ve never had such a sweet delicious coffee treat!

Also the sandwich was so fresh, the bread was soft and the flavor was really good. It came with a bag of lays chips, a really filling lunch.

Also loved the outdoor dining area, they had fans to keep it cool. Will definitely come back next time I’m in Austin.
