Maybe it was bad timing, but I went on a Friday right as they opened. The chips were stale, but the taste of the salsa was enough to win me over. It was different from most Mexican restaurants. The only other thing was no sour cream sauce on the enchiladas, but they had a good poblano pepper sauce! Also, the rice is different from most Mexican rice, but I really enjoyed it.

We had such a wonderful experience at this Mexican restaurant! The food was delicious. Every dish was full of flavor. Our server, Alfonzo, was fantastic and gave us such attentive, friendly service that really made the meal even better. The prices are a little on the higher side, but honestly, it was worth every penny for the quality, the atmosphere, and the amazing view the restaurant offers.

One of the highlights was the dessert, a chocolate piñata filled with fresh fruit and yummy churro bites. It was not only delicious but also made the experience so much more fun for our kids. Such a memorable way to end a great meal!
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a special place to enjoy great Mexican cuisine.

I’m a motorcoach driver. My out-of-town group wanted to eat here for their dinner.

Although I typically don’t try restaurants with a lower rating, I decided to take a chance.

Whelp, this restaurant reminded me why I made this rule for myself. ‍♀️

ATMOSPHERE: 2⭐️
At first glance, the Hacienda atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. I chose to sit at a booth near the bar. The seats were comfortable and I had a nice view of the bar and activity. The row of lights overhead were off and the table was dimmly lit. Water was all over my table and some type of slippery / greasy liquid was on the floor. Tortilla chips were noticeable under my table, the table next to me, and under the barstools. The bar top was dirty with spilled food and dirty dishes. Nothing was cleared or cleaned during my visit.

SERVICE: 1⭐️
My server (who was the bar tender) wasn’t very personable or attentive. I watched as he shuffled around and tended to things… except me.

A different server brought my items.

FOOD: 1 ⭐️
Small Fresca Salad: The salad wasn’t very appetizing or pleasing to the eye. The salad greens were very wilted and were heavily tossed with large amounts or dressing.

Roasted Mushrooms: I was suprised to see the mushrooms weren’t whole and were chopped. But it made sense once I realised they appeared to be sauteed (no hint of roasted flavor). They were cooked nicely. They would’ve been pleasant, however they were *extremely* salty. I only took a couple bites of them and I had to stop.

Roasted Cauliflower Bowl: It had a nice variety of ingredients, but it wasn’t very flavorful. The avocado was hardly noticeable.

I decided to toss my salty mushrooms into the bowl to try and salvage both items. Meh ‍♀️

I ordered iced tea. My server failed to check on me, even though I was in his eyesight the entire time. Another server finally checked on me and brought me a refill.

My meal and experience was very dissapointing. I DO NOT recommend

Uncle Julio’s was a pleasant surprise for me. The food was exceptional down to the chips and salsa they serve. I ordered the quesa birria appetizer and it was delicious! My husband had the fajitas with steak, chicken, and bacon wrapped shrimp and he loves it. We will definitely be back for more!

Let’s start with the reservation, we made a reservation for 5 people around 5:15 thinking we could do a reservation for 6-6:30. The earliest we could was 7, not a big deal. We got to the restaurant around 6:30 and we were greeted by a rude hostess. I was still parking the car when the hostess told my wife we needed to wait till our reservation time. Immediately after telling us that she seated 2 separate parties of 4 and 5 people who did not make a reservation. I get into the restaurant and address the issue we have with waiting an additional 30 minutes with the hostess. She immediately gave me attitude as well. We were seated about 10 minutes later after a server with what seemed to be a lot of experience came up and made suggestions to the hostess. After being seated we waited quite awhile for our server who was great however, was obviously overwhelmed with tables due to short staff. Drinks from the bar were awful, extremely sour. My daughter ordered a mocktail and had to ask 3 separate times for it after all adults recieved their alcoholic beverages. She did not receive it until her food came out.
To add insult to injury, the atmosphere was far off from any Uncle Julio’s I’ve ever been to. The restaurant had several parties with small children who were screaming and slamming silverware and dishes. This is expected to a degree when going out in public but this was at an obnoxious level. Most people in the restaurant were visibly uncomfortable with the noise level.
Food, though the fajitas lived up to the level you’d expect from Uncle Julio’s the steak quesadilla which I’ve gotten once or twice before had the presentation someone would expect from a Taco Bell. The plate looked nothing at all like what I’ve ordered in the past, it was bland looking an not at all something you’d expect from this class of restaurant. The amount of cheese and steak was minimal, it was mostly made up of tortilla.
Having had enough, we finished our food, denied all additional drinks and desserts, paid our ridiculous bill for the food/service we received and quickly left the restaurant.
After arriving home, 4 of the 5 of us did not feel very well after eating there. Won’t be back, been to plenty of Great Uncle Julio’s restaurants however, this one should have to change it’s name.
I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Good Mexican food. Goodservice. Love that you can get a side of roasted mushrooms to add to your salad or fajitas. Beautiful patio dining along the canal.

I told the older blonde lady that wasn’t on a uniform that did work there…that the bathroom had ZERO paper towels and was so gross. How can you allow the bathroom to look like that? She replied “what do you expect me to do?” My response…not MY JOB to figure out an employees job. Figure it out . Never again. Don’t even waste your time or money and health over being able to wash and dry hands on clean working bathroom.

We waited a couple of years to try this place again and we’re so happy. It is the type of restaurant where you pay for everything so the cost is higher than a typical Tex-Mex or Mexican food restaurant. We have always been huge Abuelo’s fans and miss the level of quality in the food and service and you can find it here. I got the vegan mushroom tacos and my husband got the fried fish tacos. Both were excellent. The beans he got on his side were spicy and delicious. That complementary salsa taste just like the smoked one we used to get at Abuelo’s.

We had a pleasant experience at Uncle Julio’s in Oklahoma City! The staff was welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed—perfect for a night out.

The food was very good. Everything tasted fresh. The housemade guacamole was good.

Service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server made great recommendations and checked on us just the right amount.

We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great Tex-Mex in a fun and friendly setting.

This was a fun experience. The food was very creative. Bacon wrapped shrimp with peppers on a fajita platter is pretty cool. However, the flavor was really just average. The price was way too high. I got a gift card so it didn’t sting too bad, but for our date night party of two, it was $115.
I didn’t even get desert. Just too high for so so food. I’d eat it once to say that I had, but I’d support my local mom & pop for way better Mexican food.
