We went for a celebration (and to try the chocolate pinata). The food was pretty good. The chips and salsa reminded me of Chevy’s. The tableside guac was really good. I had the spicy pina and it was quite spicy. The chocolate pinata was worth getting. But… holy smokes the service was insanely slow. Like, really slow. It wasn’t super busy so I’m not sure why it was so slow other than understaffed? Service definitely could use an improvement.

We loved Uncle Julios when they first opened. It saddens me to leave this review but I feel people and the Managers should know.

We sat down, place was fairly empty. Ordered drinks right away and tableside guacamole. They came out and made that first, took forever to make it and we did not get our drinks until about 15 minutes after ordering them after the guacamole was served.
Food took about 30 minutes for one order of Fajitas, the Veggies were still raw and so were the tortillas.
The homemade tortillas are my favorite part. They were still doey! I pointed it out to the Manager making tortillas, she proceeded to tell me they are not raw. I showed her the tortilla, (pulled it apart, long doey strings) she said she would remake them. Proceeded to bring out more uncooked tortillas. Still have flour on them, does, raw center,I mean clearly uncooked.
Rice was cold, chips were old…..

We paid for our meal and left. Our plates still had all the food on it and not once were we approached and asked how the food was or why we did not eat any of our food.

I hope Uncle Julios manages to turn around. Hopefully it was one bad experience, but from the other recent reviews, it does not look like it.

Ps: stomach hurts from raw tortillas.

I was rooting for this place, I wanted to try it and it was a terrible experience. First the restaurant was not busy for a Friday night which I felt was odd. Next once we were seated no waitress came to our table for nearly 20 minutes. I had to flag another server or waiter down to ask for a waiter to greet us and then I was told “Oh i’m not your waitress, I’ll get her” and then waited another 15 minutes. Finally they must have sensed the annoyance on our faces that someone brought some chips out and took our drink orders. Drinks came out about 10 minutes later, but STILL NO WAITRESS TO TAKE OUR ORDERS. Finally the person who said they would GET our waiter ended up taking our orders anyway. Finally our REAL waitress came and she was terrible. We had like 2 bowls of chips and got full off of that and drinks. I serious think they forgot about our appetizer, I had to tell the waitress to check on our appetizer, which took awhile to get and then took FOREVER to get our entrees. The steak quesadillas tasted horrible no flavor, and somehow we had TWO orders of that – I didn’t even feel like arguing with them that we did NOT order 2 orders of quesadillas by then I was so exhausted. I asked for sour cream, NEVER got it. My Carnitas were NOT good, no flavor. I took the food home, but I’m going to have to doctor it up with my own flavors, hopefully that will salvage the food. The only things that were good were the drinks, but I don’t even want to come back for that. I came and tried it, and I’m thoroughly disappointed.

It’s amazing ! Go!! Homemade tortilla that you can watch them make in house, table side guac. Delicious drinks and more! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is fresh and the drinks are great! Always delicious and never disappoints! Not sure why you’re still waiting …go!!

This is my favorite restaurant, but in the last year it has really gone downhill. They removed the black beans from the menu, not everyone eats pork, so that was a big disappointment. The service has consistently been terrible on every visit. The last straw was coming for lunch on Monday( Labor Day) at 1:30 and seeing only one server for the entire restaurant. All the patio tables were dirty, we offered to clean a table off so we could have a pleasant dining experience but the manager respectfully declined the offer. There was no one to seat us, the kitchen manager had to come out to help, No one came to check on us it was a horrible experience. I’m not sure what changes have happened, but it’s definitely not the same place it used to be. Sadly after this visit I won’t be returning.

Absolutely loved visiting Uncle Julio’s. I felt right at home! I’ve been to quite a few Mexican restaurants in the last couple of years and this might top the list. It had all the best standard features of a classic hometown Mexican restaurant—- but scaled to a whole new level. Now here’s the thing. I often find myself waiting forever for my food and the service being mid tier. But not at Uncle Julio’s— our server Katie was so accommodating. I’m gluten and Dairy free and she did such a good job asking about that with kitchen and was so knowledgeable. She also recommended some great menu items (I got the delightful special fajitas— SOOO Good). She also suggested such a great drink (it was perfectly pineapples and spicy and just refreshing).

The atmosphere was so friendly and everyone on staff went above and beyond. I really loved my time here. I think what truly set it apart was the service. I normally review coffee shops and I felt like there was the level of friendliness that you find from your local barista you’ve known for 5 years. At Uncle Julio’s I felt like I was at Home. What a great place to grab a meal, enjoy some chips and guac, a delicious margarita, and just feel at home!

Truly such good service. I will be back again.

First water was pouring in through the roof in numerous locations.
We were sat in a secluded area and our server who was training another server. He dashed in spoke so fast we had to ask him several times to repeat himself. He was rarely in to even get our order. The overall service was horrible. We had to ask for everything we wanted or needed. Sides did not match what we ordered and when we asked for the right item, it did not arrive till we were nearly done. We were rarely checked up on and would have consumed more cocktails racking up the bill, without service we were left with empty glasses and beer bottles. The table did not get bussed throughout our meal, we just stacked our dishes.
One thing, the food was quite good, it’s a shame, we will not return.
Fix your beautiful building and employees.

I wanted to like Uncle Julio’s. The building looks great, and the environment feels upscale and welcoming. Unfortunately, the service overshadowed everything else.

We arrived for a late lunch. The restaurant was not busy, with many empty tables, yet we were told there would be a 20-minute wait. We agreed. While waiting, we went to the bar and ordered a margarita. Once we were seated, we were required to close the bar tab right away. It felt disorganized and was an early warning sign.

After being seated, we waited about 20 minutes before a server came to our table. During that time, we saw other guests waving and stretching to get attention just to pay their bills or get help. Some even looked at us with sympathy, clearly familiar with what we were about to experience.

We ordered the table-side guacamole, which took about 25 minutes to arrive. By then, we were already full from chips alone.

When we asked a question about the menu, the waitress said she was new and did not know the answer. It took about 10 minutes for her to consult with the kitchen and come back with clarification. Still skeptic, based on an unclear explanation, we ordered the Plato Familia, which is advertised as serving four to five people.

When the food arrived, it was immediately clear it was not enough for five people—barely enough for two. The server agreed there was a problem. About 10 minutes later, after confirming with the kitchen, she explained the correct plate would be remade and prioritized.

After another 30 to 40 minutes, just as we were preparing to leave, the food finally arrived. The quality was decent, and the main items were fair for five people, but the side portions were very small and not sufficient. By then, our appetite was gone, and we boxed most of the food.

We had planned to order a featured chocolate dessert, but given the experience, we decided to skip it.

To be fair, the check was handled correctly. The restaurant credited the incorrectly prepared plate and, acknowledging the poor service, applied a 50% credit to the main platter.

We left a 10% tip and left disappointed.

This restaurant has a great look and a nice atmosphere, but the service needs serious improvement before it can be recommended.

I will start by saying I emailed their website contact a week ago about my experience before going to review.
We had a reservation at 6:45pm on 12/24 for 13 people (4 children). We were seated on time and every adult ordered a drink and a few appetizers. After everyone placed their entree orders I left to go to my car to get something, when I returned the doors were locked. I saw a sign saying they closed at 7pm but the restaurant was full of patrons. I only had my keys so I had to bang on the door for several minutes and no one saw me. I had to walk down to the Togo door to get the bar tender’s attention so I could get back inside the restaurant. We slowly started getting our food and two family members ordered their second drinks (7:30pm). After 10+ minutes with no drinks they asked again, the waiter then returned saying they shut the bar down and didn’t tell him, so no one else at our table was able to order alcohol and 8 of us had planned on ordering more, as we had one had one drink. The restaurant was still full, patrons were sitting in the bar area, large parties of families still eating dinner. My MiL had also told our waiter we when arrived that we would be ordering two chocolate piñatas for dessert, we were told at 7:50 the kitchen would not make them. Overall, we were dumbfounded that a restaurant would allow a reservation at 6:45, but shut down parts of the restaurant so patrons could not order. Our poor waiter lost out on a good amount of money he could have made with a major increase in our bill.

I have no idea what happened to this place. When they first opened, they were amazing. The food was great and so was the service. Between the last few times I’ve gone here and a few online orders, it has significantly gone downhill. I recently ordered quesadillas from here, and they have changed the recipe. The chicken is now dry, flavorless, and burnt. Disgusting. Especially for the price and location! Unacceptable. One of the last times I came into the restaurant, the service was trash and the staff was clearly frustrated with management. It took 1.5 hours to get my food. What a shame. It’s time for Uncle Julios to close.
