I was visiting Milwaukee and I was looking forward tk some good food. I made the decision to go to this restaurant and boy was that the wrong decision.
The service was ok, and the ambiance was too dark and a little weird. But speaking about the food it was a very bad experience.
Starting with the salsa, there was not much flavor, I asked for something spicy and they brought the same salsa. I got the quesa birria, and my co worker got the barbacoa tacos. It was very disappointing that they both had the exact same meat when they were clearly different dishes. However the consome with my dish was so salty that it was inedible. I then took a bite of the quesadilla and it was also inedible. My co worker took a bite of her Taco was also stated that it was so salty it was inedible.
By far the worst dish of food I have ever had at any restaurants in over 20 different states. I would not recommend this place at all. It is sad that the customer is the last taste taster, because I am sure that no one tried the console before I got to our table. Very disappointing.
Thank you,

Here’s a more polished, firm, and clear version that keeps your frustration but reads professional and credible:

It’s extremely frustrating to order directly through a restaurant and still receive an incorrect and low-quality order. I specifically requested no tomatoes on my tacos, yet they arrived with tomatoes and only half of a taco shell. The kids’ fajitas came with no sides and no tortillas. The three pieces of chicken were very gristly on one end, and overall most of the food was poor quality.

To make matters worse, I stood at the front desk for about six minutes before anyone acknowledged me, despite the restaurant being no more than 25% full. This experience was disappointing from both a service and food quality standpoint.

Picture shows all that I received for fajitas…

We sat at the bar and decided to eat there as well. Started out ordering the margarita flight. It had a strawberry, mango, and cranberry margarita. I do not like mango, so the bartender was gracious enough to switch it out for another strawberry or blackberry. For dinner my husband and I ordered the skirt steak fajitas for two. The food came out sizzling. The steak was cooked perfect. Too much food. We ended up bringing some home. The bartenders did a great job. They were taking care of people at tables around the bar, also.

First visit. Service a bit on the pokey side. Had to ask for silverware. Small quac tomatoes etc on side. I would prefer they be incorporated and cilantro should be included. Roasted tomato salsa good; would prefer if you could get verde also. Two soft marinated steak tacos ok, beef tender and a bit chewy, not very flavor forward. House beans good. All items could have been hotter. The rice was cold. The margarita flight disappointing. The flavors are all on the glass bottom with reg margarita plopped on top hard to incorporate. Don’t recommend. Outside seating but no umbrellas. Was a shady side. Weirdly, on a very hot day they had the outside fireplace going and I could feel the unnecessary heat 2 tables away.
As there are so many authentic Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee, this would not be a priority for a return visit.

I will agree with a previous review that the “service was adequate” even though they weren’t busy. They may have just finished a rush and we caught a lull at 6:30 on a Friday night. We weren’t in a hurry.
The chips and salsa were good and the fajita dinner that we split was A LOT. I’m almost embarrassed at the amount I took home because we ate plenty and barely dented it.
Overall pleased with the visit and will return.

My wife and I went to Uncle Julio’s in Brookfield recently. First, both of us received really dirty silverware. Old guac crusted spoons, various dried on bits of other utensils. Then my wife’s water and my ice tea came out. Both glasses were crusted in some kind of white lint. Napkin bits maybe? My ice tea was… thicker than usual. It was dark, bitter, and cloudy. The chips were really greasy and bland. The salsa was hot without flavor. My steak tacos tasted fine. The only part that was warm was the meat, everything else was cold. Including the flavorless rice and the beans that looked like they were right out of a can. My wife had enchiladas. She took two bites and decided she was done and not interested in taking them home. The waitstaff was friendly when we first arrived, but after I showed them the silverware and asked for a clean set, they barely said another word to us. Didn’t offer any drink refills (only applicable to my wife as I wasn’t braving the tea beyond a few sips). I would bet the place closes down in the near future. It’s a shame because the building is new, spacious, and well appointed. You cannot serve terrible food, with dirty silverware and dishes though and survive for long. Made me wonder what the kitchen looks like…

This used to be my favorite restaurant and I was in love with the fish tacos, but with a promotion to celebrate and faith in my past experiences I came here again. The house made chips and salsa are still excellent, as is the steak quesadilla, but that’s where my positive experience ends. From a waiter who seemed like he was avoiding us to dry rice and missing beans that never came despite bringing their absence to attention. Really didn’t expect this level of disappointment, but it’s enough to ward me off from visiting again.

We had such a great experience, largely thanks to our waitress Alexis. She was welcoming, attentive, and really knew the menu well. She recommended a dish that I ordered and it was excellent. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guests and the dining experience.”

Decided to try Uncle Julio’s for the first time on Wednesday evening for Dinner, everything was just great! We both ordered the “el jefe” drink which we loved! We also both wanted to try their artisanal tacos, we ordered a barbacoa and also a shrimp..so yummy! Our server Nadia did an exceptional job. She answered all of our questions, and went above and beyond to make it a great experience. We will definitely come back and ask for her.

This is a lovely restaurant serving great Mexican food, with extremely good ambience, and service to match it up. The staff is well knowledgeable, and courteous. There’s always ample place for seating, including patio outdoors, with fire side tables. They have a dedicated menu for kids, and a great selection of alcohol. Considering the quality of food, and service, the place is quite inexpensive.

Update – I have updated the review, and rated it 4 stars due to the limited options available for vegetarians. They have an updated menu, with minimal vegetarian options.
