We got very lucky today. At the felting class my wife, (twisted my arm)! to get me to take at the Governor Hunt Community Center, we met some very nice local folk. They pointed us in the direction of Uncle Jess’ (owners loved but long-since past beloved Uncle) Cafe which served that day only until 2 pm. I think on Fridays they’re open to 7 pm. AND, each morning that they’re open, it’s an early 7 am.
It’s a converted home in front of an auto garage. The giveaway is the two sandwich boards out front and the kitchen exhaust on the roof.
One enters onto a homey and roomy front porch. There’s a sofa and some individual relaxing chairs. Further into the home, there two four-tops and beyond into the back, there’s three or four more.
On the other side, the friendly cook works at an open grill.
I had the Vermonter omelette for lunch, covered with Vermont Cheddar cheese and filled with Vermont bacon. It was quite tasty. The wheat bread was good but I didn’t ask for some Vermont Jam which would have improved the taste.
Wendy had a chefs salad and couldn’t finish it!
Nice folks. Visit soon! In the summer, they have soft ice cream and LOVE making milk shakes!

Unfortunately, I have no idea how this place has 5 stars. I am NOT one to complain but this warrants a review. We were the only ones in there when we went in Sunday morning. We walked in and the place looked run down and no one was there to greet us. As we walked in we saw a lady in the back (she saw us too) and she said nothing…we had to approach her before she even acknowledged we were there. As we were seated we were met with one word responses. We asked for water and we were given bottled water, which we chose not to pay for, a cup of water should be offered first. When the food came out at least the portions were generous. As we were seated, she was on her phone and speaking to the cook the whole time. Again, there was no one else that stepped foot inside the entire time we were there. She came back once to ask if we were okay we said yes and she walked away with no response. It definitely wasn’t the warm and cozy atmosphere that we were excepting based on the reviews. Save yourself some trouble and go the extra 10 min to Barn and Thistle over the border in NH, it was absolutely AMAZING the day before. Sorry that this review had to happen, try working on your customer service next time.

This quite the charming experience. I really appreciated it unique aesthetic. We went here for breakfast Saturday morning and it was a good experience. There were a few people here before us. The staff here were super friendly and professional. I really enjoyed the food. The pancakes were huge and delicious. They have some parking spots in the dirt. I am looking forward going back again soon.

The breakfast is quite yummy and the atmosphere is very nice. The people are great and we always get a chicken wrap in a pinch. It’s nice to have a restaurant right in Vernon.

At first, we were hesitant to stop, as it doesn’t look like a restaurant from the exterior. However, inside this homelike exterior is a welcoming little sitting area, a bright light filled dining area, and everything is clean and well cared for. The cook and grill are within view, a separate seating area for more diners or groups is available, but the space is small. Still, there is ample seating for several groups of four, as well as a little counter for coffee patrons, or those who prefer to sit there.
The location is a bit out of the way, but this little gem is well worth the drive. There was ample parking when we showed up, and the service was great!
The food was absolutely delicious, and we got so much of it for far less money than eating elsewhere. So glad we took the drive and stopped in. Thank you for a fantastic visit! We will absolutely return! 5 stars ✨⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

Great breakfast & prices. They accept credit card, don’t have iced coffee, and had a breakfast buffet ($15.99) the day I was there. They said they would like to have the buffet every 3rd Sunday of the month (but maybe not! Gotta go and find out!!!)

We almost didn’t go in because it looked like someone’s home, not a restaurant. What a nice surprise! The food was good & the owner was wonderful.

Convenient place to stop in for breakfast. Came here at random when driving through the area and was in need of a diner stop. Food was good and staff were very nice! Eggs were cooked exactly as ordered (over medium can be hard to nail). Was a little worried when we arrived it didn’t have that typical restaurant appearance, but so glad we tried it out.
