I visited this restaurant for the first time several weeks ago and let me tell you the food is delicious. On my first visit I ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and it came with a little side of cornbread. My husband ordered the fried pork chop chops. He said they were good but a little too crispy. For our second visit we ordered the chili and it is absolutely delicious. During our third visit, I ordered the ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. My husband ordered the barbecue sandwich, potato salad, and baked beans and again the meal was delicious. I highly recommend you stop in and get a good meal from this restaurant. The owner and his staff are very friendly and polite. The offer great service that is fast and efficient.

Im truly not a person to eat out much at all but Im a sucker for good barbecue so I was told about this spot and I think I went to wrong barbecue spot but I visited this restaurant on Sunday after church on 11/30/2025 for the 1st time new to area of VA and I ordered the barbecue chicken it was Cajunly black burnt and dry all the way through and Barbecue sauce tasted like soap not good sauce and Mac and cheese burnt and had a sour smell to it brisket horrible and I feel everything should not have looked that way for the early part of the day and no flavor to it cole slaw no flavor to brisket was not the best and some of the food taste like it was kept from last week before or way prior to Thanksgiving holiday and simply reheated I feel they refridge reused food to customers opposed to getting rid of it so the food isnt really fresh and thats not good I know good fresh Barbecue I was born and raised within the State of Texas and this place isnt it (everything always fresh in Texas). I feel if you’re going to run a business such as this do it the right way ppl pay there hard money dont take advantage of th3m its not nice I ate a little because I smelt an order coming from some of the food but wasnt sure what little I did eat because I hadnt eatten before church I later had major diarrhea most of the day Ive a sensitive stomach to bad food and Im so unhappy with this place and I will not be going back barbecue sauce in tiny cups and very expensive place and Im wondering did you pay ppl to comment and get 5 stars because the food wasn’t good at all I paid a descend amount $49.54) and I dont like dishonest establishment. The health department should shut you down your food looks good on your website but it doesn’t hold water in your establishment. I attached photos verses what they’ve on the site and what was put in my container to take home so disappointed I normally check my food I order before paying but I had a 25min drive and I want feeling my best but the waitress shqred everything was good so i took her word BUT the lies she tells I should’ve drove back and returned before I trashed the food and got money back but I didn’t feel good Im very unhappy and I hate wasting money. PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE PAYING IF YOU DO GO THERE PLEASE. Shouldn’t order explain why the place was empty.

The food and drinks we had were super delicious. I recommend trying them out.
I had the fried catfish with hushpuppies , steamed broccoli, seasoned fries and a Arnold Palmer (unsweet tea) . First time here and my coworkers were also delighted with the food and service . Decor is also nice with an outside screened in eating area .

Love this family restaurant. Stopped by this place today, and I was not disappointed. The food was on point super flavor, and good portions. The employees were friendly and helpful and welcoming. We will definitely comeback again. The potatoes with onions were amazing.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Quaint atmosphere with the relaxing aroma of hickory smoke. The ribs fell off the bone and the baked beans had the perfect amount of sting to them. Great service friendly staff! Highly recommend!

This spot is highly recommended by the locals and I see why!!! I got wings, 6 ribs, Mac and cheese and collard greens. The wings are smoked and then fried mine was a little hard. The ribs were tender and delicious. The collards won best in show with its unique seasoning and the Mac and cheese had some unique seasoning as well. If you are traveling to Culpepper make sure to stop by Uncle Elders. It’s worth it!!!!?

Stopped in at this downtown BBQ spot and was blown away. The waitress was amazing—super attentive and kind—and the food was even better. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the staff made the whole experience feel like eating with friends. Hands down one of the friendliest and tastiest places in town.

Such a nice little gem! The food was delicious. I had the 2 meat plate and got the cornbread as an appetizer. The apple butter on the cornbread is a must try. The ribs were falling off the bone! Literally, everything was delicious!! If you are in Culpepper, this is a must try.

Don’t let the sleepy exterior fool you – behind the humdrum facade of this local joint lies some seriously tasty Southern comfort food. My partner and I recently stopped into Uncle Elders for dinner and were blown away by the smoky, mouthwatering flavors.

We started with the sampler platter, which came piled high with crispy chicken tenders, fall-off-the-bone wings, and melt-in-your-mouth ribs. Every single bite highlighted Uncle Elders’ mastery of the grill and smoker. I was already in heaven, but then our entrées arrived.

My wife ordered the flawlessly cooked salmon, which flaked apart at the gentlest touch of a fork and had a wonderful charred exterior that sealed in the fish’s natural juices. My ribeye was cooked perfectly to medium rare. We sampled sides of creamy mashed potatoes, gooey mac and cheese, earthy fried okra, and tangy coleslaw – every one was done to perfection.

The food alone is worth a special trip, but the service also impressed. Although sad part was we were the only customers at 5pm on a Saturday, however our server was attentive and friendly. Now, for the downside. The total bill seemed slightly steep at $72 for 3 dishes between two people. But in terms of pure flavor, Uncle Elders delivered one of the best meals I’ve had in ages.

So if you find yourself in Culpeper and hungering for toothsome Southern fare, make a beeline for Uncle Elders. The top-notch grilling and seasoning are sure to satisfy your appetite and then some. Just be prepared to splurge a little for the privilege of tasting such lovingly prepared comfort classics.
