I stopped in at Umi Sushi while in Ann Arbor and was really impressed with the food! The spicy poke with tuna was fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of heat—definitely one of the best I’ve had in a while. I also tried the takoyaki, which came out hot and perfectly cooked, with a nice crispy outside and tender inside. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, and the presentation was great too. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back!!!!

Been coming for years. The food is wonderful and it’s great to have a variety of the Asian foods I miss from traveling around Asia and Japan quite a bit. The service is outstanding. The owner is so nice I would come just for the service. You won’t regret coming here.

Don’t take the 3 stars as bad. I liked the food. I feel it’s targeted for a wider audience & less for those who grew up eating this food at home, it’s an adaptation. I spent a lot of time in Japan and Korea (and even married a Korean woman) so my perspective is biased. The menu has a wide selection and the taste remind me of fast food you’d find in Korea & Japan, albeit healthier. I loved the choice selection. Given the larger Asian population in Ann Arbor I thought the taste would have been geared differently. As I mentioned I enjoyed the food. It’s considerably better than anything you’d find in a shopping mall’s food court and however less than you’d find in the streets of Tokyo or Seoul.

I recently visited Ann Arbor and had an experience at a particular establishment that I would like to share. While I understand that prices can vary by location, I found the portion sizes to be rather small in relation to the cost. For instance, a 20-piece sushi order was priced at $85, which is significantly higher than the $25-30 I would typically expect in my hometown. The rice portion served on the side was also quite small, roughly equivalent to a single cup, whereas I would have anticipated a more substantial bowl.

Despite these concerns regarding value, I must commend the excellent service I received. The employee who assisted me was exceptionally kind and attentive. While the food itself was enjoyable, I personally found it to be overpriced for the quantity provided. If budget is not a concern, then it might be a suitable option, but in my opinion, it does not offer the best value for money.

We came here last week and had a great experience! I was a little worried about publicly dining, but it was clean and put my mind to ease. We did not sit close to anyone and they blocked off tables to ensure there was a distance between guests. The sushi was decent and was priced equivalently. Some rolls were fine and others were great! The sashimi was basic and the maki rolls were smaller than usual, but they’re $4 so again, priced accordingly! Our server was sweet and helpful. Their drinks were good and presentation was pretty! Good local spot for some quick sushi!

Stopped in for takeout while I was in town for a business meeting. I was greeted when I first walked in and when I asked to look at a menu to place a to go order the gentleman pointed at a menu and walked off. I decided on the shrimp lovers combo and approached the register. The gentleman walked past me 4 times without acknowledging me at all. Finally a young lady came out of the kitchen and took my order.

The sushi was prepared quickly. Everything tasted fresh. Unfortunately what I thought I ordered was 3 rolls and what I got were two small rolls and 2 pieces of nigiri. My order was $20, and I felt like I got about $10 worth of food.

They also serve hibachi and rice dishes, maybe the portions are better on those dishes.

This is a great place to meet up with friends or date night. A bit pricey, but isn’t everything nowadays . The Takoyaki aka Octopus balls were amazing. We always wanted to try this dish. The bulgogi Box lunch was a good buy. Don Katsu was my husband’s favorite.

I very much liked this sushi place. Lots of choices. Soups,Rammen,Sushi of all sorts. I will be certainly coming back if I’m ever in this area. If you haven’t been here and are in a hotel close by why not give it a try? Im fairly certain you will enjoy the food.. as we did. very tasty indeed!

I’ve been to this place multiple times now. Bibimbap is relatively hard to mess up so if in doubt, get that. Miso soup and ginger salad are fairly standard. The sushi was pretty decent; nothing horrible really stood out to me. Both times I’ve gone, there was not a lot of people so staff was friendly and quick. Not having to find parking is an added plus too.

Not our first visit to Umi and what we were served today was a tragedy. Half cooked edamami, shrimp tempora roll was gray, undercooked and didn’t have a spec of panko. Mentioned that it didn’t look correct and they tried to say it was. We know shrimp tempora and this was absolutely not correct. Best part, they charged us for this disgusting roll that we didn’t touch. Unfortunate, we will not be back.
