Our Hibachi experience was great! We got scallop, chicken, and shrimp hibachi and ordered two sushi rolls on the side. The Ivy roll and Avocado roll were delicious. The portions were generous and I loved my shrimp. My friend enjoyed his scallop and chicken. The drinks were tasty as well. Definitely give the hibachi a try! It was a fun experience thanks to our chef.

I called 5x to see if there would be a wait for my spouse and I. Answered the phone twice and said hold on but never clicked over and didn’t answer the other 3x. Waiter handled a table of 16 which he did ok but too many people in my opinion and chefs was awesome. Food was great but if you have a shell fish allergy then there isn’t much to choose from.

Even though the food was excellent and the great service. Our hibachi experience was lack luster to say the least. Outside of the initial lighting of the grill, there was no more interaction past placing our portions on our plates. IMO, that is one of the main reasons for sitting at the hibachi grill. But all in all, the quality and quantity of the food itself overshadowed what we lost in “showmanship “.

Service was great, I tipped well. Food was sub-par. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:00pm. It was very clear that the Shrimp fried rice we were eating was from the previous night. Rice was dry and tough, so was the shrimp. Rolls were freshly made but bland.

My family and I went here this weekend. While everything was good, I did find one thing that was very disturbing. We ate at the hibachi table. Beside us was a young man and his son. They were very friendly, and stated that it was their first time there. Side note that is important to my review is that they were black. This is important because the chief came out asked for everyone’s order, then proceeded to talk to me and my family asking us a lot of small talk questions including if it was our first time there. I explained that we had been several times before, but that the young man and his son had not. The chief continued to make conversation with us, but never again acknowledged the man and his son. When he finally served us, it was quite clear that he also gave my family far more of the food. This kind of blatant racism and social division should not be tolerated.

I usually love Umi’s, but this time it wasn’t as good as it has been on other occasions. Don’t get me wrong…it was good, but not great. The portions here are definitely ample. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly. My only complaint is the chicken in my meal was overcooked. With that being said…I guess I’d rather have it be overcooked rather than under cooked. I’d still recommend Umi’s to anyone wanting Hibachi.

There was a roach crawling out of my avocado salad.
Absolutely disgusting. After telling what I think was the manager or lead shift, she grabbed the bowl walked off quickly. Came back apologized, offered another and said it was comped off the bill plus discounted some of the rest of the bill. The server didn’t return until we had card out to pay & waiting.
I didn’t eat anything after the fact. That is absolutely disgusting. The whole bill should have been comped.
