I’ve been to Umi twice now with large groups (9–12 people each time), and both visits were a great experience for a group setting. The flat fee makes it easy — it includes drinks, dessert, hot pot, and even fresh-to-order ramen, which is a nice bonus you don’t always see at buffets.
The variety is impressive. They have sushi and sashimi, crab legs, grilled salmon, grilled shrimp, seafood dishes, Chinese-style hot foods, noodles, soups, a salad bar, desserts, fruit, and more. They even have pizza, fries, and chicken wings, which makes it great for groups with different tastes. There’s truly something for everyone. My personal favorites were the sushi, grilled salmon, grilled shrimp, and the crab legs.
Service-wise, they’re not overly friendly or warm, but they’re not unpleasant either. They’re efficient and keep things moving, which works well in a busy buffet environment. I also felt comfortable there and had no issues as a Black customer.
It’s a solid choice if you’re going with a group and want a wide selection without worrying about everyone ordering separately. I would definitely go back again.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while. Unfortunately, I went to try it on a Sunday. There was hardly any wait time, which was great. I thought it would’ve been more packed due to the hype on social media. We got seated, and we asked for our drinks. They said sorry, no more drinks. We ran out of drinks. We have the milk teas. I don’t really do milk teas when I eat, so I ordered water, and my husband got a fruit punch. Obviously, the drinks are included in your $40 price and 12% service fee. I was disappointed with the food. I believe that since influencers give them a heads up that they’re coming, they put the best food out there. They replaced the food items that are being eaten quickly enough so they go in, put more, but that day they did not have noodles, they did not have the ribs. They did not have crab legs. They did not have anything. We had to wait like 20 minutes into our sitting for fresh stuff to be coming out. The ramen was basic. I did not like it, so obviously, I decided not to get the hot pot because of the same reason. The only thing that was good from that restaurant, because I tried a little bit of everything, was just the pork belly, the ribs, the steamed rice, a couple of sushi rolls, and chow mein. Other than that, I feel like the $40 price dinner should’ve been cut by $10-$15 due to the quality of food. It was not that great besides those dishes. That’s based on my opinion, my experience, and my guest.

First time came to this place! Excellent food, excellent service, very very clean. Food is worth the money and we will come back! I wish I had a bigger stomach, there’s so many types of food and desserts! Especially the cooked and sushi! Thank you so much!

There are many kinds of dishes, but none of them taste good. Most of the items seem to be there just to fill the selection at a low price. The shrimp and crab taste strange, and empty food trays are not refilled. On top of that, all of the staff are unfriendly. I don’t understand how this place has a rating above 4 stars.
Even one star is too generous. I will never come back. and The service is really terrible, but they automatically add a 12% tip. It feels like the staff don’t bother trying because of that.

We had a nice time here and are glad we visited. The restaurant is bright and modern looking with dining areas scattered around. Overall, i think the reason Umi is popular is because food quality, presentation, preparation is just a little better..maybe 10 to 20% better than what you would expect, in my opinion of course.
Their sushi, rolls and sashimi selection is pretty standard but where they stand out is their cooked seafood offering. There’s a lot to choose from and many are actually quite good. Because it’s busy, Trays are refilled frequently which means what you get is hot and recently prepared. A virtuous cycle.
Ramen and mini hot pot is available on top of the stuff you get from the buffet tables. They offer complimentary milk teas and sweet teas as well in the two refrigerated cases.
Service wise the 2 waitresses in our area were friendly, helpful and efficient.
Try to get there before 6pm to avoid a long wait. A 12% gratuity is included in the bill. Post on TikTok or Instagram and you get a free lobster tail with steak (surf and turf) or 5% off the bill if you decline the lobster (check with waitress though). Dinner is $40 person. Total bill for the 3 of us was $140 …very reasonable these days.
We will return when we get a chance.

The food was good for the vast selection. Not a gourmet establishment, but better than other buffets. The trick is to grab food as soon as its brought to the warmers for better flavor and texture. The staff does what they need. You need refills, you get them immediately. Empty plates, removed instantly. They will not spend time chatting with you because they are busy, which is a plus. I had the braised beef, lamb, sushi, crab, and one snail (first time). I wish they had a better salad bar. I needed a nice green salad to balance all the salty, fatty, protein choices. Desserts were simple, nothing exciting nor flavorful. The fruit bar was was excellent.

Get ready to fall in line for this place. $38 per person for dinner. Numerous choices on the buffet. Ramen station and hotpot stations are all included. Sushi station was the best!
The place is clean and organized. Halway to the restrooms were sticky. They just need to mop better.
Staff are proactive in cleaning tables. They were all helpful and friendly. The only challenge is, I could hardly understand them.

Pretty unique buffet experience. There were so many options available, from the typical buffet stuff you self serve, hot pot, ramen bar, and pre-made Asian beverages. It seemed like most of the food items were being churned out at a pretty quick rate, as every time I went up to grab more food, there were fresh items available for grab. The only item I noticed that wasn’t moving very quickly and therefore was pretty dry was the whole lamb leg. It was awkward because the entire leg was on the platter and you need to cut it yourself. The sushi bar was fresh and there are a lot of unique sushi options for tasting. We found the ramen bar to be mediocre as the soup was pretty flat tasting. For the price point, this is definitely a buffet to try out. We are looking to coming back for another round.

Lots of people waiting on a Tuesday lunch time. Had to wait around 2 hours.
Check in inside on the self kiosk and type with your name and phone number. The machine will text you when you’re called. It’ll tell you what number in line you are too.
There are seats inside and outside. You just have to look for it and be opportunistic.
While I was waiting for 2 hours to get seated, I stayed in my car for a bit and then waited inside. I walked around to see what I was gonna get too.
You only get 2 hours to eat. They time you once they walk you to your table.
You can choose hot pot, but we didn’t get any.
We just wait the buffet.
FYI: if you want the King Crab Legs, you have to wait for it. Once it’s out, people grab a lot of it. People stand by the spot for the worker to put it out. Also, you have to ask waiter for crab crackers to break the shell of the crab.
There are gloves so your hands don’t get dirty while grabbing the clamps to get food.
Our waiter was fast at cleaning out our dirty dishes/food on the table.
You get unlimited drinks/soda. Just have to ask the waiter.

The variety is outstanding and the food is super fresh and delicious. Great variety, Asian, Sushi, Sashimi, American, Hot Pot, Tonkatsu, and Desert to name a few items. We were so hungry as we drove from Long Beach to City of Industry. It was worth the traffic. The staff is quick to clean up empty plates and bring new drinks. They are constantly cleaning. Decor is very bright and lively. Plenty of room and spaces to eat. We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture of our food, but I did get the desert.
Come hungry, wear stretchy pants and be ready to get grub. We will be back.
