I had 1 concern out of my entire experience! There is a fee to use a card, which is abnormal for the guest to pay unless it’s a small charge. $9 card fee on top of a $300 bill didnt really make sense..

Aside from that..
I had a great experience at Umi Seafood Buffet and chose to celebrate my birthday here with my family.
We came as a table of 10, and everything from start to finish was smooth and enjoyable.

The host, a young male, was very kind and accommodating, which made arriving with a large group easy and stress-free. Our server — a friendly woman with short hair — was especially great: attentive, efficient, and welcoming without being overbearing. She handled our table really well and made sure everything stayed on track.

The restaurant itself is very easy to navigate and self-explanatory, which I appreciated. Everything was clearly laid out, accessible, and simple to move through, even with a big group. The space felt comfortable and relaxed, making it a great place for a family outing or celebration.

Overall, the experience was fun, smooth, and well-organized. I left feeling happy and well taken care of, and I’d definitely return.

Umi Hotpot is such a fun spot to eat at. There’s a wide selection of food, including sushi, seafood, hot dishes, desserts, and more, and everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The ramen surprised me in the best way… super comforting and really good for a buffet. The place is clean, the staff is attentive, and you definitely get your money’s worth. A perfect pick if you’re craving variety and want to leave full and happy!

I came here for weekend lunch with my dad and overall had a really good experience. The food quality was solid and there’s a huge selection, especially if you love seafood. Tons of options across the buffet — although I was a little sad there weren’t any scallops.

One thing to note: many of the buffet items aren’t labeled, so it can be hard to tell exactly what you’re picking up. Also, not every tray has its own serving tongs, so sometimes you have to borrow from another dish. That could be a downside if you have food allergies or strict dietary preferences.

The atmosphere is really cool — lots of Asian-themed decor and calming music that makes the space feel relaxed rather than chaotic. The restaurant and bathrooms were both clean, which I always appreciate.

Service was adequate. The staff were polite, just not especially warm or chatty. They charge a 12% service fee and tips are not expected.

It is on the pricier side (and even more expensive during dinner and weekends), but honestly, I think it’s worth it for the amount of selection and quality. If you want to try it at a lower price point, I’d recommend going during weekday lunch first.

And side note: they include unlimited boba tea with the buffet, which is kind of amazing. At other places, that alone can cost close to $10 each. Here, it’s included — and yes, I had multiple.

Overall, I’d come back. If you go in knowing what to expect price-wise, it’s a fun experience with a lot of options.

Honestly the best buffet around. But of course, like with every buffet, there are hit and miss dishes but most of them are very good. Only down side is the wait time. Just be prepare to wait 1-2+ hrs depending on day and time you go. You can use a kiosk upon entering to add your party to the queue and they text you when it’s ready. Highly recommend to pay attention to where you are in line so you can come back if you do decide to leave.

**Now I decided to add this part in but just know it’s not part of the buffet food.** They had this Facebook promotional event where they’ll ask you to post their flyer on your Facebook page and each person who post will get steak and lobster for free. They didn’t seem to be opening advertising it in the restaurant, seems to be an ask to know basis. We only found out about it after another table personally told/show us. Now, that was fun and all, steak was good but lobster was RAW. We notified the server, he told us to cook the lobster in the hot pot broth if we need it more cooked. Not the response we expected but it’s free so I won’t complain. I figured these would be helpful for others to know.

UMI Hot Pot & Seafood in Rockville, MD is amazing!
They have fresh seafood, sashimi, sushi, hot pot, fried rice, and so many options to choose from.

The seafood tastes super fresh and high quality — you can tell right away when you take the first bite. The sashimi and sushi are delicious, and the hot pot broth has a lot of flavor. ✨ The fried rice is also really tasty and pairs well with everything.

The place is clean, service is fast, and the food comes out quickly. ✅
Perfect restaurant for family, friends, or group hangouts — you will leave full and happy.

This place is a seafood paradise for anyone who likes anything seafood. You can get a whole cooked lobster (it’s one per person every time they drop the tray) and the sushi is pretty fresh and made in house. The buffet was lacking but it does make up with hotpot and ramen options. One thing to note it’s it’s heavily Chinese influenced all you can eat so do not except high end sushi or Korean joints. Also, the staff was there but due to the sheer volume of people, their attention is all over the place. I had to repeat the order few times. Also, they will include gratuity as a service fee so bear that in mind.

Heard about long lines when they just opened for business. It is still very popular, even after major winter storms. Interesting place to me as they serve primarily meat dishes (which is pretty good) and sashimi and sushi (which is okay) plus plenty popular flavored soft drinks. People come here more for social gathering is my primary impression.

For the price per person the food wasn’t up to par. If you enjoy ramen and hot pots, you will enjoy this place. The buffet options were simply okay. Was disappointed with the food, meh. Ambiance was really nice. The servers who seat you and clean your tables were extremely kind.

This place started off great – I would visit weekly with coworkers during lunch. Prices have gone up continuously since opening, but not one of my major complaints. All-in-All it’s a place I would recommend visiting but not something I would boast to others and give them high expectations.

Cons:
*Once it become popular on Tik-Tok the waiting lines were out the door, literally. 45-120 min waits are not too uncommon and are to be expected on any days that the kids are out of school for a holiday
*Dinner pricing on any holidays even if it’s not a federal holiday
*Buffet tables are wiped out from the lunch rush. Good luck finding the sushi you might want unless you get in before 11:30am or go after 2pm
*Rarely ever see eel/nigiri anymore
*Servers have gotten lazy ever since they implemented the service fee and stopped tipping (I waited 15+ minutes for my hot pot and had to remind her because she forgot)

Pros:
*If you get in there on a normal weekday without the rush, it’s great.
*Braised pork belly is great, but I recommend saving for last as the fat will fill you up fast
*Seafood, sushi, sashimi, Chinese, ramen, hotpot, and a pretty decent variety of desserts and drinks – no complaints
*Don’t expect Yosaku level sushi, but it’s still quite decent for a buffet.
*Servers are friendly. Even if slow, they come around with a smile on their face and I’ve never been faced with an attitude
