This is my second visit, and Umai continues to offer truly incredible food. With so many options, I found it difficult to choose when you were hungry and all menu sounded so nice and I wanted to try everyrhing. so I ended up ordering the soft shell crab rolls, which were absolutely delicious, followed by scallop hand rolls and the Chicken teriyaki bento. Every dish was amazing, and I will most certainly be visiting again.

I had a fantastic experience at Umai Sushi last week. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Every roll we ordered was packed with flavor, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere for both a casual dinner and a special night out.
If you’re looking for great sushi in Shrewsbury, Umai is definitely the place to go. We’ll absolutely be coming back!

The food was lovely, the staff was incredible. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!
We bought a LOT of food (7 different plates) so our bill was higher, but still absolutely reasonable for what we got.
It was incredibly busy, and we saw people being turned away if they didn’t have a reservation, so I highly recommend booking in advance.

Been coming here for many years, and always impressed by the welcoming service and quality of the food. Menu is very varied, so there is something to suit all tastes. Would definitely recommend visiting here.

This place was so cute! The atmosphere is perfect, it feels like you’ve just stepped into a small restaurant in Japan. The service is very attentive and the food came quickly. We ordered a mango, avocado, and shrimp tempura roll, which was suoer delicious. We also got the mixed fish rice box, which came with a great selection of fish. We also got the vegetable tempura – which was nice, but some pieces weren’t as texturely enjoyable as others. I loved the sweet potato and lotus root, but did not love the okra or the mushroom. We also had two pieces of mochi ice cream for dessert. It was a very expensive meal for what we ordered, coming in at almost £50, but it was high quality.

I love this place and have been there several times for lunch and dinner.
Food is great and fresh, staff is always super nice and welcoming.
Recently I was slightly disappointed with a temaki/taco (Ebi – prawn and cucumber) as it came with ONE prawn and a TINY piece of cucumber as you can see on the picture. Not sure if that was a lapse or what, but was very disappointing. Despite that, all plates were good as always and I would come back.

Been many times to Umai and it has never disappointed. The food is absolutely incredible. Insanely delicious sushi. Service always excellent. Highly recommend the scallop nigiri, tuna sashimi, and the lion roll.
