First and foremost, our server Yuri was so friendly to our family and gave excellent recommendations! All of the fish Sushi and Rolls we got were absolutely fantastic. We were served some of the freshest fish we’ve tasted here in North Texas. Highly recommend the Samurai Roll and the White Tuna Sushi, so fresh and so flavorful! We live 30 minutes away and will be coming back with family and friends when they visit!

Umai Sushi offers a calm, understated sushi experience that feels refreshingly authentic. We ordered a mix of rolls, appetizers, and cocktails, and overall the quality was solid. Service was good, though clearly stretched thin. There was only one server covering the entire dining room, and while they were friendly and doing their best, we did have to remind them of a couple of items. Nothing was handled poorly, but the limited staffing showed and slightly interrupted the flow of the meal. That said, patience goes a long way here, and the experience still felt thoughtful rather than chaotic.
The atmosphere is one of Umai Sushi’s strongest features. It’s quiet, casual, and restrained, reminding us of small neighborhood sushi spots in Japan rather than loud, high-energy sushi bars. This place has quickly become one of my favorites. The location itself is a vibe—Adriatica Village is such a cool area to walk around while waiting for your table. The sushi here has been consistently amazing every time I’ve gone. My go-to rolls are the Stone Bridge, Shrimp Popcorn, Rocky Manhattan, and Sombrero—SO good! The spring rolls and gyozas are also to die for. On top of that, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you’re craving quality sushi in a beautiful spot!

My go to sushi spot in McKinney. I usually get it delivered but always amazing. Haven’t had a bad thing on the menu! Literally everything is great. Some of my favs are the panic roll, lava roll, Rocky manhattan roll.

I was excited to try this place after seeing all the positive reviews, but was not wowed… It looks very nice from the outside, but pretty small and a bit dusty inside. Service was okay and could improve by at least removing empty dishes throughout the service. We came during happy hours and were surprised that the miso soup had to be ordered separately, which came without tofu inside. Sushi came out fast and I’m not sure if it’s a good thing as the rolls were not firm and were actually deconstructing as you pick them. I was even more disappointed to see the sushi chef picking on his nails right at the station after we already ate. Not worth coming back for me.

I wanted to check out Adriatic Village and Umai Sushi happened to be in the village. We went for lunch at around 11:30AM, first ones in. The exterior is inconspicuous and easy to miss but the interior is pretty intimate and cozy, for a sushi joint. Umai seems to be a popular lunch spot for business professionals, due to their lunch specials. The sushi was exceptional. We ordered a 15 piece sashimi plate, a Samurai roll and a Lobster roll. The sashimi plate came with a 3 pieces of otoro to our surprise, and the quality is superb. The Lobster roll arrived with fried chunks of lobster meat covered in panko atop of a larger-than-usual roll (fried lobster tail, asparagus, avocado, cream cheese, topped with Masago, spicy mayo and eel sauce). If you are hungry, the Lobster roll will surely fill you up! We were satisfied with our food, so no complaints there. The service was great up until the lunch rush (12PM on a Friday), then it really diminished. The reason is there was only one waitress waiting and seating patrons down, which for a popular sushi spot, is unacceptable.

We got the spider roll, popcorn shrimp roll, and volcano roll and each one was delicious.
I have never seen anything like the volcano roll and it was superb. The crab tasted like real crab instead of imitation and the scallops were the cherries on top.
In addition, our server was very attentive and answered all the questions we had.
