When in Texas, try the beef!
The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the food is excellent! The smash burger had perfect crispy, lacy edges. The fries were some of the best I’ve had recently, served up hot and thinly sliced. I was passing through the area for work and am now disappointed that I won’t be around for lunch time tomorrow.

My post is changing since the owner wanted to claim this doesn’t look like his food. So now now I added the receipt which clearly shows the date. At first the simple review and not eating there again was good enough for me but after the comment I called in to speak with the owner and told him what I thought of his excuses. Then they had the nerve to have his manager give me a call right back to try and smooth it over. This little boy that identifies as a cook & owner wasn’t even man enough to simply apologize and then tried to have someone else do it for him. They served be burnt food, fries that were soggy and dripping grease then want to go at me when I didn’t even ask for a refund?

Went my my family to try out the smash burgers and it didn’t disappoint! The mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and fries are delicious. We enjoyed the burgers, but I would have preferred to have a cheddar cheese option rather than American cheese and maybe a little bit more seasoning on the meat itself. The Turtleman sauce is delicious as well. Over all though I definitely recommend!

We heard about this place, do we decided too stop in! Atmosphere was friendly and spacious. Food was flavorful but did need a little extra salt. Mozzarella sticks were the best part, yummy and so cheesy! Coke products on fountain. And their cute little free toy turtles were a hit! Certainly stopping in again.

Turtleman’s is a great addition to Potosi! The food was incredible, though the buns were a bit thick and dry for the thin smash burger style patties. Service was excellent, with staff checking on us often. The prices are very reasonable also.
The table layout could be improved; a center rail forces tables close together, making it feel like you’re sitting with strangers. This setup is less of an issue during slower times but can detract from the experience when it’s busy if you don’t enjoy sitting with people you don’t know.

I have been trying all of the burger places in Abilene when I come to town & this one is now in my top 3.
I got the Swiss melt with extra crispy bacon, which was a great pick.
The burger was a smash burger with crispy edges, seasoned & cooked to perfection. The Bun was soft & delicious. The bacon was was crisp & flavorful, I would love to know what type of bacon they use, because it would be the only brand I’d ever buy.
The service was excellent, the young man behind the counter was fun with a great sense of humor & helpful.
I will definitely be back.

The Marble Rye Patty Melt was fantastic, added grilled jalapeños and bacon. Cheeses sticks were extremely cheesy and tasty and then the onion rings and fries cooked perfectly. Best burgers in town, in my opinion!

After reading all the reviews for a few weeks, we finally got out to try Turtleman’s in Potosi this afternoon. We got their right before 5pm and it was already pretty busy and got very busy quickly. All the employees were working hard. My husband and I ordered the jalapeno smash burger, fries, onion rings and cheesesticks to share. He also got a drink. The total cost for the food was about $28. It was a lot of food for that amount and we had a couple of things for leftovers. The burger was really, really good. The fries were great and there were a lot of them. Onion rings were fine and they were pretty normal. I would like to discuss the cheesesticks. I LOVE cheese and these things were huge. Pictures do not show how big they really are and you have to see them to believe it. They may be on the verge of too big, but they were fine. I will say, with that big of a cheesestick, it’s hard to get the cheese in the middle melted thoroughly and hot with the cheese being gooey like it should and how I prefer. The center was lukewarm, but I brought the other one home and plan to put it in the air fryer tomorrow to see how it turns out. Overall, I recommend making the trip out there to give them a try as the burger was great and the fries, too.

By far the best burger I’ve had in Abilene. Since I know how to make a decent smash burger. I don’t usually order burgers outside, but this place will definitely be an exception. You can clearly tell the meat is fresh, the french fries are likely made by cutting potatoes, fresh in the store. Service is fast and efficient and the place is actually nice to sit down and eat. There’s nothing lacking in this place. I would highly recommend going here.
Another advantage, there are no waiters, and they don’t ask for tips to check out, you can give only if you want to. Definitely a welcome business model in a horrible tipping culture.

It was my second visit, and they are still one of my favorite places near Abilene! I got a bunless Cheeseburger with Pepperjack Cheese and my friend got a Chicken sandwich. The chicken wasn’t completely done, and we let them know. Not only did they redo it, but they also comped it! They know how to give great customer service!
We will definitely be coming back when we are in the area!
