Had lunch here today with a work colleague. Ambiance is dim and comforting. We split the Persian cucumber salad, mussels, and ricotta meatballs. The cucumber salad was surprisingly good, the waiter recommended it. Fresh cucumbers cut largely served with a cheese. It had a little bit of spice and crunch, sweet and tangy elements. The meatballs were served with a few spears of broccoli rabe and a little polenta. The polenta wasn’t creamy and lacked in seasoning. The broccoli rabe was seasoned perfectly, The meatballs were a little underseasoned as well and on the dry side, they serve just 2. The star of the meal was the PEI mussels. Portion size and cook was perfect. The broth was amazing, with plenty of garlic flavor and sliced shallots. It was served with a large soft piece of focaccia bread with perfectly charred edges, great for dipping. I would return to try new things.

All the food was excellent. Well seasoned and beautifully presented. The service was very friendly, attentive, and accommodatingto our needs with a toddler. Atmosphere was nice, not too loud for conversation. They are by byob, but provided ice bucket and wine glasses

First off the accommodation for this restaurant is world class. I had booked well in advance for Valentines Day Dinner and my dummy self had cancelled it by error a few days before. When I texted the number on the reservation site for help I did not know I was texting the chef, Lauren. Not only is he a boss at cooking, but he helped me reserve their walk in table to save my butt. Really meant a lot to me which I am grateful for.

The location definitely has an intimate vibe with low lights, nice decorations and great music. Unfortunately we did not have time to grab a wine but it is a BYOB. A few folks around us had theirs with complimentary ice buckets the restaurant offers.

Food ordered:

Appetizers
– Rosemary Focaccia
– Pecorino Arancini

This appetizer combo was insane. The flavors are THERE. The arancini was a great pair with the sauce but dipping the Focaccia in the left over sauce was *Chef’s Kiss*. Nike slogan “JUST DO IT”.

Main Course/Side Dish:

– Hand-Cut Pappardelle + Pork Sugo(Main)
– Brick” Chicken(Main)
– Fried Potatoes(Side)

The noodles for the pappardelle were perfect and the pork was next level delicious. I went with this since I heard pork is their thing yo.

The Brick Chicken was roasted and the flavors are a rollercoaster for your mouth in a good way. Curry sauce to dip the chicken in was tasty as were the vegetables.

Now the fried potatoes is not something you eat alone. I refuse to tear this side dish down. At first when you eat it on its own it’s bland but then I tell myself “you dummy head, ITS A SIDE. PAIR IT WITH SOMETHING ON YOUR PLATE!”. Yep that did it for me. On its own it has cheese, chives and a hint of lemon to it, but trust me pair it with your dish. Went incredibly well with the pulled pork in my dish and the sauce and vegetables on the brick chicken dish my wife had.

Dessert:

By this time I couldn’t breathe and my stomach and intestines were throwing their fists at me to stop. Nuh uh. I had to get dessert. We both shared a chocolate peanut-butter tart. We liked it but keep in mind the chocolate is a dark chocolate cacao flavor. Definitely strong in flavor but very good overall.

Overall great dinner and service.

PS: THE SPICY WATER LABEL GAVE US A GOOD CHUCKLE. Whoever thought of that deserves a high five. Had to take a picture of it. So SPICYYY(It’s just sparkling water).

Been a while since we stopped by the T&W. Have to say, we love the ambiance.
The Persian cucumber salad was very different and very good. I’m going to have to replicate this at home.
My wife’s hanger steak was tasty, although a bit tough.
My Berkshire pork chop was also very tasty, but I thought a bit too fatty.
Service was very attentive and it’s a BYOB.

Yummy! We pre-ordered the Lo’s Fried Chicken for two brought a nice bottle of Argyle Blanc de Blanc and had an outstanding dinner. The food was served perfectly, and a huge portion size – we probably could have invited 1 or 2 friends (and then maybe had an additional app or something off the menu to supplement or not, depending upon stomach sizes 🙂 ).

Amazing BYOB upscale restaurant in Montclair. Absolutely blown away by the level of service, had drinks placed into a tableside ice bucket and the waiter told us all about the menu and was prompt with everything. The food was delicious and better than a lot of NYC restaurants I’ve had. 10/10 experience overall and will be back!

Love Turtle + The Wolf. Welcoming, warm staff. Great atmosphere. Chill neighborhood vibe, but still feels like a night out. Amazing food, always. Option to bring a bottle or buy something across the street or next door is nice. Excellent choice all the way around, never had anything but a great night here. Staff is worth mentioning again: always attentive, kind, and accommodating.

Preordered the Fried Chicken family style meal for 4 and we all enjoyed the food greatly. $45 per person and we had plenty of fried chicken to take home.

Really appreciated great service which seems to be lacking elsewhere lately. We did complement our waiter and while speaking with him he told us that he has been there for 7-8 years. He mentioned that one if the cooks started when he did as a dish washer and worked his way up.

This speaks volumes about the owners/manager in that they take care of their employees and help them grow.

Will return.

We were a group of 3 who came here for my mothers birthday. On the reservation I noted that we were celebrating my moms birthday. When we arrived at the host we were immediately seated and she wished my mom a happy birthday which I thought was very nice that she made noted to do so. Restaurant is very sleek and modern looking. They played great music and the art decor was pretty cool. I noticed on the menu that they specialized the menu for my mom and put Happy birthday on it for her and I knew right there I was gonna be blown away. I really appreciated the little things the restaurant did and the staff. Our waiter I believe his name was Craig ( ) was awesome. Very attentive, knowledgeable and really enhanced our dining experience. The whole staff was amazing really. Good was amazing, we wanted to try everything but our stomachs wouldn’t allow it lol. We had the oysters, pate, and tartare, dinner was fried chicken, brick chicken, and swordfish. We all shared and everything was truly delicious, especially the fried chicken. What a crunch! And the side sauces and biscuits, chef kiss! Dessert was amazing too and they brought it out with a candle. I really enjoyed the dessert dining experience here, my mom loved it and I will definitely be back again. It was truly a special evening which they help create.
