At Tupinamba Cafe, you are more than a patron. You are part of a story that began in 1910, when Papa Froylan Dominguez fled Mexico during the height of the Mexican Revolution with a handful of cherished family recipes. He and his wife, Consuelo, began serving those recipes with the opening of the first Tupinamba in 1947, where it is believed that the Nacho and Sour Cream Enchilada were introduced to Dallas. As the oldest family-owned Mexican Food Restaurant in the city, the Dominguez family proudly serves the same delicious recipes. We invite you to be part of a story that started as a family tradition and has turned into a Dallas legend.
Comfortable, long-running Tex-Mex restaurant serving classic cuisine, imported beers & margaritas.

We will be back…
On evenings when we want to get out and grab a bite to eat we enjoy coming to their bar. Bartender, Luis waited on us and everything was so on point; from his service, the food and drinks. Great place, nice atmosphere, excellent Skinny Margarita’s!!
Hot sauce is made each day and changes somewhat keeping it interesting, queso is yum, their ice tea is fresh and “pairs well” haha with the Mexican food. I always get the biggest combo plate so I can devour all of their offerings. But….my absolute favorite is the Tupy Taco. Great family owned place.
The steak fajitas were the star of the meal—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The rice and beans were tasty and paired nicely with the fajitas. However, I was surprised the dish didn’t come with guacamole—it’s usually a staple with fajitas, but I guess every place does things a little differently!
The iced tea that came with the special was a bit of a letdown. It was almost transparent and didn’t taste like tea. It tasted more like water with a faint rea taste. Check the picture!
Despite the tea and guacamole absence, the overall quality of the food would bring me back.
