I used to work nearby this location and ate here weekly. So I was excited to stop in yesterday while I was in the neighborhood. The staff was incredibly rude. Forget greeting me and thanking me. The woman behind the counter acted like she was angry at me. And it wasn’t just her. The customer behind me got the same treatment from a different employee. Judging by the last few reviews the ownership knows and doesn’t seem to address the issues. The food is good and all, but there’s a lot other places around with good coffee.

Tulipan Bakery is a great spot for lunch, especially if you’re looking for something fresh, fast, and satisfying. The food is consistently well prepared, with generous portions and plenty of options to choose from. Everything tastes homemade, from the bread to the main dishes, and the quality really stands out. The staff is friendly and efficient, making it easy to grab lunch even on a busy day. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed midday meal. If you appreciate authentic flavors and reliable quality, Tulipan Bakery is an excellent lunch choice.

I am actually relieved to read some of these reviews. I have been very confused since my visit this morning. It was my first time there and I was very excited about getting some Cuban pastries. I walked in with a smile and great expectations. The entire staff looked me up and down, frowned at me, and only shrugged in answer to any questions I had. I actually asked them what was wrong. What had I done?

I was about to leave when a woman came up to me and said do you need help because my husband can help you order. And she whispered to me. It’s because you’re American.

I spent the afternoon totally perplexed. Why would they alienate customers? I really thought I must have misunderstood the whole thing, but now reading the other reviews I see that I was not the only one to have this experience.

If their mission is to keep Americanos from coming in, they accomplished it with me. I won’t be back.

If you’re fluent in Spanish, Tulipán is your place. If you’re not… well, it can be a bit of a gamble. I’ve been coming here for a few years, and while the food can be great, the customer service is consistently awkward.

The staff often look you up and down, give you a frown, or stare blankly while you order. It’s pretty clear at times that they’re not thrilled to serve certain customers. And strangely enough, the quality of the coffee seems to match the interaction — if they look annoyed or bothered, the coffee probably won’t be good. But if they ignore you, take your order quickly, and rush you along, the coffee ends up amazing. Their guava and cheese pastry is delicious, and the cheese pastry is great too.

The hot food is hit-or-miss, and I rarely stay inside because the atmosphere feels uncomfortable — from the layout to the stares, and it’s often a little untidy. Still, there are a few drinks and pastries I really enjoy, so I take the risk and stop in occasionally. I’ve accepted that there will always be a group of employees behind the counter looking at me like I ruined their day, but if they make my coffee right, I’ll put up with the less-than-friendly vibes.

I buy pastries there when I’m in town. They’re delicious and fairly priced. I wish they’d put names or a description on them. It’s frustrating for the girls there and me to keep asking what they are. The floor’s often dirty. Employees could be more friendly. These things are easy to fix and can improve sales.

Cold, hot food. Incredible staff and coffee. Great customers. I think it was just timing for me. I was a regular customer when I lived with in walking distance. Still the various items I ordered were not hot, and smaller than normal

10-3-2023 This visit .. missing items. Extra items. Most people didn’t get what they wanted. Fast food. Friendly customers. Check your ORDER before you exit the business. Coffee tops don’t fit properly and I went to work with the wrong order and coffee stains on my shirt and car seats….

If you know good Latino pasteles, I can’t see how you would enjoy these.
Hubby said it was the worst flan he’d ever had, absolutely flavorless.
Cuban friend said it was the worst pastel de guayaba he’d ever had. He threw it out.
Will not be back.

Omg! This place is slow. Lots of help behind the counter but they stand there as the coffee machine whizzes and whirs. At 830am, a long line of people patiently wait. The pastry case is not that appealing either. Of well, nice try.

Great Cuban bakery, we love going here everything is fresh from sweet to savory pastries and prices are very reasonable. Empanada are $2.25-2.75, churros are $0.85, pastries are $1.75 you get an idea. Their coffee on leche is yum and orange juice are fresh squeezed. Go early this place is always full and lines are long, but they move fast (they have lot of staff moving helping customers) There is place to sit and eat as well. Enjoy!
