The moment you walk in, you are greeted, and can pick where you’d like to sit. Atmosphere is smaller and intimate (love) making your experience and conversation personal and special.
I have only had the pleasure of sitting at the sushi bar, and it NEVER disappoints.
The sushi chef 10/10 talented and able to curate tasteful off-menu creations for myself & sisters, fresh, flavorful, colorful, and work of food art. They have the skill with people and their passion for food.
The staff and waitress Amy; are 10/10 attentive, friendly, and warm without being fake or going overboard.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for top tier hidden gem this is your place. Lunch is fantastic as well.

Dennis behind the knife has been doing this more than most have worked in their lives. Since he was 14 he has been creating masterpieces with the sushi. From his family tradition sauce to the presentation with each piece. This sushi restaurant delivers quality rolls and definitely some of the freshest sashimi you could ask for. Thanks for making it feel like dinner with the family and serving some delicious eats. Will for sure be back and enjoying what new creations they come up with next!
The food is where Tsukino really shines. The sushi is fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell the fish is high quality—clean flavors, perfect texture, and well-balanced rolls that don’t rely on heavy sauces to hide anything. The sashimi is especially impressive: fresh, delicate, and cut with care. Every bite tastes intentional.
Beyond sushi, the hot dishes are equally satisfying. The grilled items are flavorful and well-seasoned, and everything arrives hot and fresh. Portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the menu offers a great mix of traditional Japanese favorites and creative options, so there’s something for everyone—whether you’re a sushi purist or someone who likes to explore.
The service deserves special mention. Staff members are friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to care that you’re enjoying your experience. They’re happy to answer questions, make recommendations, and ensure everything is just right without hovering.
Tsukino Sushi Bar & Grill is a true gem in Ellenton. Consistent quality, fresh ingredients, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere make it a place worth returning to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good Japanese food done right.
Every item we’ve ordered has been consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared by “Sister” Kelly. Whether it’s classic or specialty rolls, everything is so delicious that it’s hard to pick a favorite. The quality never wavers, which is why we keep coming back again and again.
The service is just as impressive- friendly, attentive and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable. It’s the place we bring our guests, and it leaves them impressed.
We highly recommend this place to friends – truly a gem that never fails to deliver great food and service. So next time you’re shopping at the Ellenton Outlets, plan to stop by Tsukino – just like us, you’ll be coming back again and again.
The quality in not only the fish, but also the vegetables used are top tier!
My daughter ate everything and we will keep coming back for lovely family meals!
The food itself was outstanding. The rolls were well-balanced and beautifully formed, with fresh, tender fish and portion sizes that felt right for the price. The house sauce was a standout, and finding freshly prepared wasabi was such a rare and exciting treat—it really elevated the flavors to another level.
Overall, it was a memorable dining experience, and we will definitely be back.
Conveniently located just two minutes from Starbucks by the Ellenton Premium Outlet, Tsukino is easy to find. A few other early diners mentioned it fills up quickly on weekends.
Our sushi chef, Kelly, was enthusiastic about the evening’s specials, and our server, Ivey, was attentive. We even had a quick hello from an owner, Reagan.
If you like trying sushi you don’t often see elsewhere, this is your spot. Tsukino brings in premium items like Otoro (tuna belly), A5 Wagyu, chutoro, yellowtail belly, salmon belly, Japanese uni, and toro kama (tuna collar). These sell out fast—go early!
The complimentary appetizer from the sushi bar was a pleasant surprise: eel with avocado and edamame over rice. I don’t usually care for eel, but this was soft without being chewy. And the fried salmon skin chips—a must-try. Some pieces still had a touch of salmon on them, a little bonus bite.
I also appreciate that they don’t sauce the sweet shrimp heads, keeping them crisp instead of soggy. The roe nigiri was exceptionally fresh, with generous servings literally spilling over the sides. A special roll prepared by Kelly (the name escapes me) was excellent, topped with perfectly marinated onions. The wasabi even had the texture of fresh root.
They offer a nice selection of beer and sake, plus hot dishes that looked and smelled fantastic.
Open for lunch and dinner (closed Sunday and Monday), Tsukino is an inspired choice—whether you’re out for sushi night or taking a break from the outlet shops.
It was within walking distance from our hotel. I was thrilled to have such a delicious dinner so conveniently located.
I absolutely recommend this quiet, privately owned sushi restaurant.
