First time with Jamaican cuisine. It was excellent! I had the Curried Chicken with Steamed Vegetables, Rice and Plantains. Very favorable with a bit of a kick. The Pineapple Ginger drink was perfect. For dessert I had the delicious Bread Pudding. The owner was very helpful and a really nice guy!

We were traveling through to meet family we haven’t seen in some time and wanted something different that we can’t just get anywhere else and boy did they deliver! Not only was the food fantastic but the service was top notch! I loved the goat and everyone else deeply enjoyed their dishes as well! This will be a common stop when we come through the area! The Sorrel Ginger drink is off the chain!

This was quite the find. Our party (including children) tried the patties, jerk chicken, curry goat, Rasta pasta, and the rum and raisin bread pudding. It all tasted like really good home-cooked food, with fast service and excellent, attentive customer service. Would recommend and hope to return on a future visit to Waco!

So, I’d been wanting to try Tru Jamaica for a while, and my hubby and I were finally in Waco during business hours. We came in hungry, for a late lunch. I’ve never been to Jamaica, but I grew up in NYC, and went to school with friends who immigrated from Jamaica. They always brought the best lunches to school! I can remember an argument over whose mom made the best curry goat. Sometimes I got lucky, and someone would split a Jamaican meat patty with me. But I digress…

I ordered the curry goat and pineapple ginger drink. The portion was enough for me to have leftovers and they warmed up nicely. Customer service was EXCELLENT. We were greeted when we entered and he was very ATTENTIVE to our table once we ordered our food. The pineapple ginger drink was new for me but it was AMAZING! The goat was tender, the plantains were ripe and the rice and peas had a lil kick to it (spice). The flavors complemented each other. Coming back for sure!

The food was absolutely delicious. Spices were very flavorful and just enough heat in the food. I loved the Scotch bonnet hot sauce for some extra kick. The sorrel ginger drink was herbal, sweet with a fresh ginger finish. So glad that we saw this place and stopped.

First time ever having true authentic Jamaican and let me say Tru Jamaica is the Best!! If you are visiting the Waco area they are a most to stop at. The staff is very attentive, friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The whole atmosphere of the place leaves you feeling Great, then the food just takes you straight to the Isle of Jamaica. They will definitely be a frequently visited place.

This place came recommended by family, and it did not disappoint. It is off the beaten path but well worth the effort. We split ox tails, curry chicken and Jerk Shrimp. The fried plantains and Caribbean rice were awesome too! So nice to have authentic Caribbean food in central Texas.

So good! My husband had the Jerk Chicken and I tried the Curried vegetables and both were delicious. And the fried plantains were amazing! Very friendly service and laid back atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we pass through Waco!

Tru Jamaican was amazing! The food was great, staff friendly, and atmosphere was light and casual. We were in town for a quick pick up and mapped food places. A little off the main road, but definitely worth it! Thank y’all, we will tell everyone and be back!
