Tropika Malaysian Cuisine – Authentic Flavors in Edmonton
Reviews
The food is next level… Every dish I’ve tried is seriously incredible. I can taste the passion in the food
GO TO ORDER: Roti, beef and chicken skewers with peanut sauce, Thai style vegetables and Singapore noodles
If you’re looking for amazing Malaysian food paired with outstanding service, Tropika is a MUST. Easily one of my favourite spots in Edmonton and a place I’ll keep coming back to.
We all chose 4 main dishes and added calamari to start and coconut rice to accompany our mains.
We ordered lemon chicken, eggplant dish, noodles, and ribs.
We didn’t have to wait too long and our food was delivered by a cat robot. So cute and funny!!!
I would totally go again to taste the soup as it looked so yummy!! We were all stuffed as the dishes were perfectly sized for 4 people.
Excellent choice for supper!
The food was fantastic. We stayed with beef and chicken stays with peanut sauce. Tender meat, yummy sauce. My wife and I both preferred the chicken. We also had the calamari. It came out fast and tided us over.
The mains were Singapore Laksa with mixed veg and Sayer Lamak hot pot. Both were very good but the coconut broth in the hot pot dish was phenomenol. Highly recommended.
The biggest disappointment was the so-called Tom Kha. It was thin, sour, and watery, with none of the gentle sweetness or creamy coconut depth that defines an authentic Tom Kha. It felt like a cheap Tom Yum in disguise, as if the same base were used for both soups, which is simply wrong. Any Thai person told this was Tom Kha would feel insulted.
The noodle plate was average and the eggplant dish acceptable. Nothing stood out, nothing tasted authentic. Having lived in both Malaysia and Thailand, I can confidently say this was not representative of either cuisine. Whoever was cooking tonight served what felt like rushed fast food, not the vibrant flavors these cultures are known for.
The overall experience was horrifying to say the least. A big disappointment and not a place I can recommend. What a shame!
A really good choice of visiting the place. Will drop in again someday to try mango sticky rice for sure…
Amazing selection of meat and sea food dishes perfectly assembled for the discerning foodie. Blends or aromatic seasoning and spices is to die for. I’m N.E. of my fav spots to hit up when I’m in Edmonton. Although I typically order the r same 6-7 dishes, once in a while Inwill venture off and try something new. Invariably, to my surprise (or not surprise) it’s another hidden gem on the menu.
