Update: The Southwest Wrap made me sick. So not only did I not get what I ordered what I did get made me sick!

My 1st and last time at a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Derek took my order. I told him I’d never been to a Tropical Smoothie Cafe before. I ordered a Southwest Wrap with chicken and then asked for a Peanut Butter Cup smoothie with no banana. I asked to if I could substitute something else for the banana and Derek listed some fruits and coconut flakes so I asked for coconut flakes. I did not get what I ordered. Instead 3 flatbread sandwichs. Derek assumed I wanted a peanut butter flat bread sandwich with my southwest chicken wrap instead of a smoothie even though I clearly said Peanut Butter Cup. Then the lady preparing the sandwiches put bananas on the peanut butter one so that’s how I ended with 3 sandwiches. When I said I ordered a smoothie Derek said “No Ma’am.” The lady preparing the sandwiches said they could make one “It would only take 30 seconds.” but I had already been there for 20 minutes and couldn’t take any more time for them to correct their mistake. I’m extremely disappointed. Not worth the time or money..

Went to the grand opening and let me tell you that morning crew was amazing! They did an outstanding job of getting people in there and out at a decent pace. And the food was excellent along with the drinks delicious wish I was able to get a pic of my meal, but I didn’t have the patience lol.

We visited this location on the grand opening day and were among the first five customers to place an order. Despite that, our experience was surprisingly disorganized and poorly handled.

The cashier asked for our name but never entered it on the ticket. After waiting more than 20 minutes and watching numerous customers who ordered after us receive their food, I asked about the delay. I was told that because there was no name attached to the order, staff assumed it was an error and simply chose not to fulfill it. That explanation makes little sense. The order was paid for, and rather than ignoring it, staff could have easily called out the order number to confirm whether it belonged to someone waiting.

When the order was finally prepared, we took it home only to discover it was incorrect due to the order being entered improperly in the first place. After the initial delay and confusion, receiving the wrong item was the final straw.

Adding to the frustration was how the grand opening promotion was handled. The first 50 people in line were supposed to receive free smoothies for a year, clearly stated on the voucher as being for individuals age 16 and older. I personally observed the owner issue an additional voucher to a child who was reportedly sleeping in a car. The owner asked the child’s age, and the adult confirmed the child was 12 years old. While I understand that management can choose to override terms, it’s hard not to feel for the 51st person in line who followed the rules and missed out, while exceptions were made for children who did not meet the stated eligibility.

Grand openings are expected to be busy, but this level of operational breakdown, order mishandling, and inconsistent application of promotion rules reflects a lack of basic process controls. Hopefully this location improves, because this was not a strong first impression.

Low level of service and care. Drinks were put in a bag and were already spilling. There is no possible way the worker could have put the drink in there without noticing the overflow and spill it was already creating. So disappointing. ‍♀️
