I was very disappointed with my experience at this Tropical Smoothie Café location. I came through the drive-thru to order two açaí bowls, which should have been a simple order, but the service was extremely slow. We waited about 10 minutes before even paying and another 10 minutes after that before receiving our food.
When we finally got our bowls, the quality was just not there. They were completely drenched in honey — not a drizzle, but to the point where that’s all you could taste. There was barely any açaí at the bottom, and instead of actual granola, they chopped up Nature Valley granola bars and used that as a topping. That is not the same as granola, and it made the texture hard and unpleasant.
For $22 total, this was absolutely not worth it. The portion was small, the flavor was off, and the overall quality was disappointing. I’ve had açaí bowls from other places (like Berry Divine) for the same price, and the difference in freshness, texture, and presentation is huge.
Definitely won’t be coming back to this location.

We visited SPI on Sunday 12/28/25 3:55pm and took family visiting from out of the country. I had stopped here once before and recommended this place for the best smoothies! Everyone was so excited to try it out. Upon entering we were approached by a worker and he said he was sorry as they were not taking any orders because they were out of everything and that they were way behind on their pending orders Note that there were about 5 people there and they were already eating. So I told the gentleman that we were only going to order smoothies. He said “Like I said we are not taking orders at this time because we are out of everything”. I was shocked, it was Sunday, the island was very slow and the handful of people there were already served. How are they behind on existing orders. He said sorry. I was embarrassed to translate to my family that they were not taking orders. I told the worker “well it’s your loss” he said sorry. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and doubt I’ll be back. Of all the options we had we choose this place and felt let down.

I placed an online order. Arrived, they were busy. Guy finally approached me. I told him my name. He says couldn’t make your two acai Berry boost. Out of acai Berry would you like a refund. I said can I not order something else? He said you are being rude. I told him I wasn’t being rude just asking a question about my drinks. He said sure. So I did
Both drinks were awful. I sound have ask for a whole refund of my order, he could have kept the food. Didn’t even put all ingredients in drink, watered down. And I go there frequently. Twice last week. Shame on you. Go fund a jib you like.

Tropical tastes even on a frigid day here in Padre. Flatbreads, salads, wraps and sandwiches, smoothies, bowls, and sweets offer something for everyone. We both dove in head first to a double order of the acai bowl and were not disappointed. Its variety of fruits- strawberry, blueberry, banana-and texture from granola, coconut and chia seeds, all pulled together with a drizzle of honey quenched our desire for a filling, healthy lunch that wouldn’t weigh us down for our afternoon of sightseeing. My only regret was that it didn’t come in more than one size. Conveniently located near all the hotels and resorts. We’d definitely return! Come try them for yourself.

I went on Dec 24 around noon and there were about 13 people waiting inside for their orders plus the ones on the drive thru and only two employees. The poor guys couldn’t keep up with the order overflow, which made the wait for a smoothie more than 20 minutes.
I went again on Dec 27 again around non and it was closed, when it was suppose to be open.
It looks that the place has very poor management.
The food could use improvement as well.
Will not ever go again.

Best place to have awesome smoothies. Great friendly staff. Good ambiance. Must try avocado toast and humus veggie, The food is of great quality and it’s reasonably priced. If you are in town, check this place out. Highly recommend ❤️

This place is pleasant and quiet. The personnel is attentive and friendly. The selection is really good and tasty. I think places like this one brings a refreshing and unique look to South Padre Island. If you are in town dont forget to visit this establishment and enjoy there healthy and nutritious smoothies and try the sandwiches, I recommend the Cuban one, is to die for.

Came in from Port Isabel for breakfast 9/27/25. When it was my turn to order I gave a “Hey, good morning” to the cashier who stared blankly back at me. Could tell by her demeanor that would have rather been anywhere else but taking my order. I get it, not everyone is a morning person but maybe reach deep and muster a “Hello” when interacting with customers. When our order was ready she bagged it and put it on the counter, didn’t say a word. Ordered no cheese and of course it had cheese. Location was clean with plenty of seating available inside and on the patio.

During this Pandemic, almost all of the restaurants are not offering dine in, more can you use the restaurant. We asked tknuse the restroom, and we could not use it. And we needed to, but I get it, employees must be protected and we as customers must be empathetic.
Tropical Smoothies was delish!!! I ordered the Pomegranate Energiser and my wife ordered the Mean Machine. They were out of Energizer so they substituted B12. I was energized.
We also ordered the Chicken Pesto Flat Bread. It came with esther a side of chips or fruit. We got the Sea Salt Chips. The flat bread was very tasty, fresh and light. Chicken was cooked to perfection with the appropriate seasoning.
All in all, good experience. I would recommend to visit and try their smoothies as refreshers while on the beach at SPI.
