Tropical Acres is one of those rare old‑school steakhouses that still gets everything absolutely right. The steaks were phenomenal — perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. But the real highlight was the service. Rayden and Tony delivered some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced anywhere: warm, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they do.
This place has been a Fort Lauderdale institution for decades, and after this visit, it’s easy to see why. Exceptional food, timeless atmosphere, and service that makes you feel like family. A must‑visit.

We’ve been here many times before usually for special occasions. It has been renovated somewhat ( I miss the old decor). The food this time was disappointing. We started with the stuffed mushroom caps, they were fantastic however there were only three. We each had a Cesar salad. We both agreed it wasn’t good. My husband had shrimp scampi and said it was good. I had the petite filet mignon with a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare but not seasoned at all. The baked potato was just that. Not opened or anything. Just taken out of the oven and put on the plate. They give you a little plate of foil wrapped butter with the rolls in the beginning. So I used that butter after I cut open the potato. Those rolls were barely warm and very hard. We will definitely be back I’m just hoping things get better.

We have been coming here for years. My husband was coming here since 1958. The food is delicious consistently good. The service is excellent. We have our renegade Corvette Christmas party here every year and we have met so many nice PayPal at happy hour. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed

Tropical Acres continues to serve excellent food in an atmosphere that takes you “back in time”. Wait staff was extremely accommodating and attentive. I ordered Beef Wellington, which they only prepare during holidays, and it was cooked to perfection! The live piano player played 70’s tunes throughout the dinner adding to the nostalgic feel.

From the moment we entered this landmark Restaurant, we felt welcome. Before coming to Florida from Toronto, we did research. Especially about great places to eat. We were not disappointed. We had Happy Hour in their beautiful Bar with delicious appies and a lovely wine, both at half price. Dinner was a delectable delight served by the effervescent Gabby. From salad to entree, the steaks were perfectly cooked. The delightful Arthur stepped in to offer dessert, another delicious surprise. Our friends shared the homemade tiramisu and we had key lime pie which melted on the tongue. We now know why Tropical Acres has been around since 1949! They care about their customers and their food. Thank you to all who made our experience so memorable! We will return!

Went to Tropical Acres for a nostalgic dinner. My family and I dined there very often when I was a kid. The service and atmosphere were wonderful, as I remembered. However, the quality of the steaks has declined. The 14 oz rare ribeye was 7-8 ounces of fat. I even dissected the fat off and pushed it off to the side to document the large quantity. When I complained, I was told that the meat was well marbled. To me, it was half fat and half meat. The manager ignored my complaint. It’s too bad, since my wife really enjoyed her lobster dinner.

Couldnt be better ! Believe it or not I we to Florida and to Tropical Acres to see and photograph the iconic neon sign which was used in a music video back in the 1980s and went to the steakhouse for dinner and the neon sign was still standing and the food at Tropical Acres was excellent !
