Stop. Pull in and get a bite to eat. You can thank me later.
Trish’s Red Bird Café is one of those rare highway gems you hope to stumble across on a long drive. My wife and I ordered the Reuben and onion rings and they were absolutely fabulous. Truly some of the best we have ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor and the kind of meal that makes you wish you lived closer so you could come every week.
If you are reading this review and debating whether to try it, do not hesitate. Just park and go inside. You will not be disappointed.
The atmosphere has that warm hometown Dayton charm that makes you feel welcome the moment you step through the door. The restaurant is spotless, the service is outstanding and every member of the staff treats you like family. It is hard to find this level of friendliness and attention to detail, especially so close to a major highway.
We also learned a bit about the café’s history and how deeply connected it is to the community. You can feel that pride in everything they serve. It is clear why this place has such a loyal following.
Thank you to the entire team for an excellent meal and genuine hospitality. We will absolutely be back every time we pass through.

Awesome kid friendly cafe! We stopped here on our way through town with our toddler and the staff went above and beyond- they were so welcoming, brought her toys and a coloring activity, had kid plates. Food was great, nice atmosphere and great service. We liked it so much we stopped again on the second half of our trip.

I came out to the Red Bird Cafe with friends for a late breakfast. I got the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. It was okay. I didn’t get a lot of flavor in it. My friends got some omelets that were truly massive from what I’ve gotten elsewhere. All the portions were large enough to share a little bit. That’s how I know they are excellent. It’s a nice short trip out of Lafayette or off of I65.

Cute place with great breakfast! My husband and I stopped in there after traveling for 3 hours looking for a place to eat saw their billboard went in and they closed in 20 minutes but they were very accommodating so don’t worry about it and take your time highly recommend.

One of the best small-town stops I’ve ever been! The food isn’t even the best part, although it is delightful. I have only had breakfast here, but I am looking forward to trying lunch/dinner, as well! The walls are filled with fun local history and it has the everybody-knows-everybody vibe going on. My favorite part is seeing the owner, Trish, serving customers and making new friends! If you want the most wholesome dining experience, the Red Bird Cafe is the place to go!
Update: Went to dinner and had a stuffed burger… it was underdone and the stuffing was not cooked (bacon, onions, etc.). Given that I’ve enjoyed the breakfast here tremendously, I’m not giving up hope and will be back to try another dinner option. Perhaps I can ask for a burger – this time well done!

I’m wary about posting this review because sometimes I have to wait for a table or booth, this place is that popular. With a unique menu ranging from Breakfast Soup to stuffed burgers and amazing ribs, the Red Bird Cafe is not your standard issue roadside diner. Trish herself works in the kitchen and also circulates among her customers to make sure everybody’s doing alright. Great decor and even a small souvenir/gift shop. Weekends are the busiest. Be sure to check the business hours.

Just a hop, skip and a jump off I-65. Homemade food. Cinnamon pastries were to die for. Mac and cheese was one of the best. Meatloaf platter was above average and BLT was avg. with thick cut tomatoes, (almost too thick). Would come back again. Great decor and friendly staff. Breakfast all day and they serve alcohol.
