I ordered a shrimp fried rice yesterday, the shrimp came peeled and deveined.
Also ordered a shrimp Ramen, a soup. The fact that they do not peel nor devein the shrimp and just drop it in Ramen is absolutely absolutely crazy. Why do we have to stick our hands in hot soup, hot noodles, and hot broth to get the shrimp to peel them… if anything you could’ve done that with the shrimp fried rice, but you shouldn’t do it at all. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t peel and devein the shrimp and before placing it in hot ramen soup.
Not sure what type of sense this makes. Won’t be ordering from them again.
The place is typically not busy but the quality of food is superb. Service is always friendly but they typically only have 1-2 people working the floor so you may have to wait your turn depending on when you go, but it’s worth it and nothing a little patience won’t solve.
Our spicy chicken karaage didn’t taste very “made from scratch” at all – tasted like frozen packaged karaage that was drowned in a sweet spicy sauce. Too salty for our taste but was probably the best thing we had today.
Hotto tonkotsu ramen noodles were overcooked (more about this later) with a very bland flavor and not plated with any care at all. Where was the garlic tare we see in pictures? The roasted seaweed was completely soggy when we got the ramen as well.
Omurice – well, at least the rice was half decent. The egg had a few crunchy bits which I assume were egg shells. The “spicy mayo” didn’t taste like spicy mayo at all, more of a sweet yuzu jam.
The plates we were given for our appetizers had black dusty bits all over it which put us off as well. We also witnessed a waitress peeling eggs while eating her food and coughing using her personal phone (no gloves or hand washing in between). This put us off big time.
We witnessed my wife’s ramen being ready and sitting under a hot lamp for 5 minutes until my omurice was ready which lead to overcooked noodles and soggy seaweed.
We took a few bites of our mains and took it home (unfortunately we won’t be eating them). Hopefully this is a one-off experience for us and everyone else has better experiences here.
**Update: After my review and response from the restaurant, I was able to speak with Tom and was pleasantly surprised by his response to the situation and wanting to make things right. I appreciate how receptive they were to critiques and clarification on their policy. To clarify, not taking an item ordered off the bill is meant if the customer eats all or most of the meal and then wants it taken off. Having working in the restaurant industry before, I know this happens but was not the situation in my case. It seems there was a gap in communication which Tom communicated to the staff for clarity moving forward. While this was not my best experience, I won’t close the door on visiting this establishment as I know we all have off days. The fact that they were so responsive confirms this was the case.
first the karaage was given to us and it was cold. we told the runner not even the server. it came back in the same untouched and not even warmer somehow.
Now the hair. the response is a straight up lie. the hair was presented to the runner AND the server with the server making a comment about how she was trying to think about who in the kitchen has curly hair. So the blatant lie is insane.
I also know you are lying about the camera footage showing we got napkins and utensils at 5 because we had to ask for them after we were served our food around 5:49. The food was barely touched because as soon as the hair was found maybe after a bite or 2 everyone stopped eating. i will show the pictures of how we left the table and even the timestamp of when i took the picture.
There was no good faith. When we had brought up that our karaage was still cold after being taken to the back and doing who knows with it our server came back saying she talked to the owner who would not only not comp the karaage but that the security had been called to make sure we dont skip out. Again something we would never do. Small business or not. Also saying that we were given to go containers as good will??? So im being forced to pay…. but heyy a to go container yayyyy. Thats so dumb im sorry its almost laughable how a to go container is a sign of good will.
Again when the runner for some reason came to check us out we told him it was separate checks. He said it was 70 bucks for one check and we were trying to tell him the karaage was supposed to be on someone else check but he just was confused. so it was not us confused but your runner having to act like a server because she did not want to check us out or whatnot.
Again security was already there when the food had just barely gotten to our table. the fact that you keep just lying. the only food that was eaten completely was the muscles Which we said we would pay for cause… WE ATE IT!!! I will attach the full ramen bowls that were not taken to go or eaten. The food was not majority consumed. Take accountability that your staff, the kitchen , and your management messed up instead of saying we wanted free food.
EDIT: we never said the food was too hot. Stop lying lol. No food was remade. Again another lie. The protein is literally in the ramen and was not consumed which you can see in the pictures I provided. You said we ate all the food and now we just ate the protein?? I will go back and forth because you are lying and still are.
From the start, our server repeatedly brought out only one drink, twice, completely disregarding my mother’s presence at the table. When our drinks finally arrived, the cups were visibly dirty. We immediately brought this to the server’s attention and requested a manager.
Not only was a manager “unavailable,” but the individual acting as shift leader responded to the concern by stating, “They aren’t dirty,” and dismissively shrugging her shoulders. When confronted directly, she denied her own words and actions rather than addressing the issue.
Throughout this entire interaction, the restaurant was blasting explicit, profanity-filled music at an excessive volume, forcing us to raise our voices just to be heard. This type of atmosphere is entirely inappropriate for a dining establishment and showed a complete lack of regard for guests.
The overall presentation of the restaurant was just as disappointing. The food presentation was poor, staff appeared untrained and unprofessional, and several employees were not wearing proper hair restraints, raising serious sanitation concerns.
This establishment demonstrated a total lack of customer service, accountability, and basic standards of cleanliness. We left without dining and will not be returning. I would strongly caution others before spending their money here.
