Went during winter break so expected it to not be as full. But seats were filled up as lunch hits. 10/10 burgers and fries. Had to eat slowly to savour the food and the atmosphere. The famous root beer was so crispy. Excellent customer service from Valerie. Checked up on us and made small talk and gave us great recommendations. First time having the true diner experience and it was great.

This place was recommended to me by multiple people and I was not disappointed. Their root beer really is all that! I opted for the Duane Purvis All American burger (the one with Peanut Butter on it) and added bacon. It was good but I think my partner’s Flash Gordon burger was more my speed with those yummy caramelized onions. After that tasty meal we hardly had any room left but could not leave without trying their scratch made Triple XXX Root Beer cake with vanilla ice cream! Hubba hubba! Clearly, it was so tasty I almost forgot to take a picture of it! Our server, Jack, was literally as much of a highlight of our experience there as the food itself. He expressed passion and knowledge about the menu and even educated us on the history of the establishment. All in all, a stellar experience and would highly recommend. The rave reviews are NOT an overhype!

Talk about an institution with history. Don’t eat before nor wear anything you don’t mind some grease stains. The draft root beer is heavenly, while the burger combos make deciding tough. The staff is awesome. And yes, the milkshakes have that much ice cream.

What a fun and unique atmosphere. The burgers were tremendous and so fairly priced. Our server Valerie was a charm. She was so so friendly. We did not have ice cream sundaes but the ones we saw looked truly amazing. We will most definitely return our next time through West Lafayette.

I’ve been by this place and heard nothing but good things about their burgers. So whilst in town on a college visit with my son, that would be Purdue University, we had some time to kill and decided today was the day. We didn’t have to wait to long to go belly up to the counter and put our order in with Valarie. By the way she was a phenomenal waitress who was friendly and alway had our root beer topped off. This place was really crowded at lunch time and if you are one of those people who don’t want to sit right next to a stranger then I recommend axing for an outdoor table. I had the Flash Gordon burger and this monstrosity was amazing. 4 burgers, bacon, grilled onion, cheese, jalapeno pepper and jalapeno catchup. I am leaving a picture that I took so you can gaze at that burger in all its glory before I commenced to put it away. My son, who isn’t very adventurous had the grilled tenderloin, plain. He did say that it was good for what it’s worth. But get yourself a burger because they all looked delicious. We will be consuming meals at this historic local again soon.

We stopped here because we saw the billboard on 65 south about this restaurant being on one of our favorite shows, “Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.” We are so happy we did! The food was fantastic (nothing better than a diner breakfast to kick off vacation), the staff was super friendly and attentive with all our little ones and our server Aaron even offered to take our picture out front. We got a couple of 4 packs of root beer to take home! This place is right on the Purdue University campus, so it had a college feel and full of students which was so fun. It was a great opportunity to check out this campus too!

Got in quickly, staff was very warm, food came out hot. Good diner food, fresh, food came out quickly. Chocolate slake was tasty. Highly recommend.
