Reviews
We had a reservation and, due to an emergency, called ahead to cancel. During that call, the hostess assured us that we would not be charged the $50 cancellation charge. As it turned out, we were able to come in that same evening and dined at the restaurant, first enjoying drinks in front of the fireplace then being serviced by our favorite waiter, Paul. WE ARRIVED AN HOUR LATER. We were the only ones there despite a few people at the bar.
Despite this, a $300 cancellation fee was later charged to our card.
When I contacted the restaurant to resolve the issue, the matter was escalated to management. The response focused solely on reiterating the OpenTable cancellation policy, without addressing the specific circumstances: we called in advance, were told we would not be charged, and ultimately honored the reservation by dining that evening.
We have also stayed at the hotel and previously rented the private dining room, so this was not a one-time visit. That history made the interaction particularly disappointing.
Policies are important, but so is discretion and guest communication. In this instance, the service experience did not reflect the level of hospitality one would expect.
I hope this feedback encourages a review of how guest concerns are handled moving forward.
Needless to say I was up very sick all night. I told the manager the next morning and she apologized but didn’t do anything further. What a disappointment. This could have been a lovely experience. The waiter was wonderful but the chef needs to be trained on food allergies. I would not recommend if you have food allergies.
The food was good. I had the beef short ribs and rated it a 4 out of 5. The service, ambiance, and drinks were the stars of the show, however. My server Christina was professional and attentive. The drinks were strong, yet tasty. You could tell the bartenders used high-quality ingredients and the pour was nice.
The only negative that I can say about the restaurant is that I absolutely HATE when restaurants add on an automatic forced gratuity. I completely understand it with large parties, but for a party of 2 people, it seems a bit ridiculous. When they add a 20% “service fee” and then also have a line on the bill for gratuity it seems like they are trying to trick you into double tipping. I’m also pretty sure that you are NOT supposed to pay taxes on a service fee, which was added in before they calculated the tax.
This place seems like it should be too high class and above board for the unnecessary money-grab tactics.
Ultimately I would come back again but anyone reading this review should beware of the billing issue.
Dinner was white fish and sprouts and gnocchi in Parmesan cheese sauce. Both meals were delicious, though my gnocchi had too much breadcrumbs on it.
The meal was impressive, but the service was IMPECCABLE. Our server was attentive and accommodating and very friendly. The whole staff did an excellent job.
Roasted carrots are delicious and so easy to the potato gnocci
