Review of Tree of Life Restaurant at Faena – Outdoor Lunch

I had a shocking, disappointing experience at Tree of Life, a venue I’ve frequented in the past, but unfortunately, the quality of both food and the overall atmosphere has significantly declined.

Initial Experience:
Upon arriving, we were seated near a group of people smoking cigars (tompus) in the outdoor area. This seemed excessive and uncomfortable, especially considering the impact it had on my smoke allergies. Is smoking in outdoor areas of restaurants even legal in Miami? Regardless, we requested to move, and thankfully, the waitress accommodated us by relocating our table. I do appreciate this level of service, but it’s concerning that such an issue was allowed to begin with, especially in a supposedly high-end location.

Food Quality:
After moving, we ordered the blend burger, chicken avocado salad, and shrimp tacos. It took over 40 minutes to receive our food, which is understandable on a busy day, so I won’t complain about the wait.
Shrimp Tacos: These were fine, but nothing “wow” special. Just basic, normal tacos.
Blend Burger: Completely mediocre. It was way too salty—so salty that it was impossible to enjoy and finish it.
Chicken Avocado Salad: This was downright awful. The avocado was dry, the chicken was flavorless and overcooked, and the entire dish was unpleasant. It was shocking, especially given that we’ve always enjoyed meals here in the past. The food quality has significantly declined since our last visit, and this experience was outright unacceptable.

Service:
To their credit, the waitress apologized for the subpar meal and removed the salad from the bill. She was polite and professional, but the poor food quality was not even her fault. The service was fine, but unfortunately, it didn’t make up for the disappointing meal.

Final Thoughts:
For such a renowned establishment at the luxurious Faena Hotel, this was a huge letdown. Between the uncomfortable cigar smoke and the drastically poor food quality, I can’t justify recommending Tree of Life at this point. Faena has always been associated with high standards, and it’s sad to see them fall short on both ambiance and cuisine. I sincerely hope they reconsider their smoking policies and focus on elevating their food back to the caliber one would expect from a brand of this prestige.
One star, and I’m not likely to return unless significant improvements are made.

This place is a lush escape, like stumbling into a chic jungle where time slows down. The tuna sandwich? A freakin’ masterpiece—bread pan-fried in butter so rich it deserves its own Netflix special, hugging silky tender tuna that melts like a love song. The South Beach juice—coconut water, strawberries, mango, orange—is like a smoothie masquerading as a juice.. just the right amount of pulp

Diana, our server, was a rockstar. Ambiance nails that lazy Sunday sweet spot, even though we went on Saturday during lunch: upscale yet chill

If you like butter, the butter here is divine

Nicole at Tree of Life at Faena was truly exceptional. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel genuinely welcomed with her warm personality and attentive service. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made sure every detail of our experience was perfect without ever feeling intrusive. Her kindness, professionalism, and positive energy elevated the entire meal. It’s rare to come across service that feels so effortless and sincere. Nicole is a true asset to Tree of Life and a big reason we can’t wait to return.

Had a birthday lunch with my husband at Tree of Life–loved it. Looks just like the photos. Food was amazing, we ordered the cauliflower (which is a whole head of cauliflower, it’s huge) and the chicken salad and shared it, plus some espressos. Espresso was super smooth and yummy as well. Service was fantastic–Betsy treated us like royalty. This hotel has several restaurants, this is the one in a garden (near a giant tree, the Tree of Life), not the one near the pool, which we enjoyed more, because it was quieter and had a secret garden sort-of feel to it. It was raining a bit that day and Betsy said, “if it starts to rain a lot, just run inside and we’ll get you seated there, don’t worry about the food, we’ll be sure to grab it and bring it to you.” Now that’s service. We didn’t end up needing it, but it was so wonderful that she offered. We love this place and can’t wait to come back for our birthdays next year!

Had an absolutely wonderful long lunch, made even better by the standout snapper—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The Torrontés wine was a delightful pairing, crisp and aromatic.

But the real star of the show? Betsy. Her warmth, attentiveness, and charm elevated the entire experience. A memorable afternoon that I’d happily repeat!

This restaurant is located in the Faena Hotel .We came to the Asian restaurant in this hotel, but it was closed, it was a day off, we were taken to their restaurant without asking, we didn’t even understand that we were being taken to the wrong restaurant. We were met by a girl who placed us at a table outside, where it was hot and we didn’t want to sit outside, but we weren’t even asked. She was not polite and seated us wherever she had to. Then we moved inside, the waiters were constantly busy, we had to wait for service, they constantly reminded us of themselves, in general the service here is terrible. The prices for the dishes are overpriced, and the dishes can’t be called tasty, I only liked the octopus, and even then it was just edible. In general, a complete disappointment, since the hotel itself is very chic inside, and the restaurant is beautiful, although in the evening the lights are dim and you can’t see anything
