Small South Indian restaurant I’ve walked past many times. There are a LOT of Indian restaurants in Aberdeen but I realized they have Dhosa and I’ve never had it so off to Travancore! Long and deep, warm and slightly diner-ish in the booth style which I actually like because I prefer substance over style. Small staff but they don’t stop. Place was full on a Sunday night.
Had sides – of course the dhosa with aloo, eggs, fried eggplant, and rice cakes. Way too much but gave me a chance to try a little of everything. Full of flavor and freshly made. Dips were lovely and tangy with just the right hit of pepper. Had a pint of Kingfisher – fresh and cold!

This cute little restaurant gives you amazing food with great presentation and absolutely beautiful experience in service wise and taste wise! It gives you a fine dining experience with such affordable prices. We tried their Uzhunnu vada plate with chutneys for starter, kothuporotta and dum biriyani for the mains and semiya payisam for the dessert – I am super happy! Presentation skills are on point as you don’t really see that usually on indian / south indian restaurants! Staffs are very pleasant and welcoming – Sabijo chetta all stars for you
Personal note : Not many authentic indian / south indian restaurants usually impress me cuz they lack the original flavours but this one was 10/10.

So highly recommend to everyone! And I am definitely going back for their Thaali and Mango kesari ❤️

NB: couldn’t click many pictures of the dishes as I was literally jumping over them as soon as it came to the table.

This little Indian restaurant was highly recommended by a staff member at the Aberdeen Blood Donor clinic. We were not disappointed. The menu is different from other Indian restaurants in a good way, focusing on South Indian cuisine from the Kerala region. The flavours were delicious and the ingredients tender and high quality. The loos were spotlessly clean and the ambience classy with soft piano music to encourage quiet conversation. The service was friendly and unpretentious. This Indian is our top go to in future and we’ll be back soon with friends. The bus stop outside is a bonus.

We came here on a Itason deal that our family bought my wife and I for Christmas. We do love our Indian food but had not tried anything from the, Kerala region. Have to say we were very pleasantly surprised how tasty it was, quite different to our usual northern India menus. Would definitely recommend to you to try.

What a fabulous meal this evening! The dosas were amazing. We shared 3 mains (a paneer, a prawn, a lamb dish) and a vegetarian thalli between 5. Everything was perfect. So flavoursome with such distinctive tastes. Paratha was light and great texture. Staff were wonderful, really helpful. Will definitely be back.

I recently visited this South Indian restaurant and had one of the most satisfying dining experiences. In fact, I was so impressed that I ended up visiting two nights in a row, trying nearly everything on the menu!

Food Experience
Chicken Peralan – Richly spiced, balanced flavors, and cooked to perfection. A true standout dish.

Chicken 65 – Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Perfectly seasoned and one of the best versions I’ve had.

Mutton Roast – Absolutely delicious, tender meat with bold spices that carried the authentic Kerala touch.

Duck Curry – Deep, flavorful curry with a rustic taste. Perfect with the appam and Kerala parotta.

Masala Dosa – Crispy dosa with well-seasoned potato masala inside. What really stood out was the sambar—one of the best I’ve tasted, with a depth of flavor that lingered.

Bread & Rice
Appam, Kallappam & Kerala Parotta – All were excellent! Soft, fresh, and the perfect accompaniment to the curries. The parotta was especially flaky and layered beautifully.

Chicken Kothu Parotta – Good in texture and flavor, though I felt the coriander leaves were a bit overpowering, masking the other spices. A minor tweak could make this dish outstanding.

Coconut Rice – This was the only disappointment for me. It didn’t capture the authentic, fragrant flavor of traditional coconut rice and felt somewhat off compared to the other outstanding dishes.

Seafood & Specials
Nendakar Fish Platter – Simply amazing! The fish was well-prepared, but what stole the show was the sauce with mussels—rich, savory, and absolutely mouthwatering. Even thinking about it makes me crave it again!

Overall Experience
The food here is authentic, flavorful, and cooked with care. Except for the coconut rice, everything we tried was outstanding. Service was friendly, and the consistency across dishes was impressive.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic South Indian (especially Kerala-style) food. The variety, taste, and quality make it worth visiting again and again.

Visited for lunch with my partner and it was our first time there. We truly enjoyed the experience. The food was absolutely incredible, full of flavour, and the portions were very satisfying. What made the visit even better was the staff – everyone was so friendly and welcoming, always smiling, which made us feel very comfortable. A lovely experience overall and we will definitely be back!

We had such a lovely experience here. The food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming (and very patient whilst we were figuring out what to order haha). They even brought out a cake for my mum’s birthday which was such a thoughtful touch and made the evening extra special. We’ll definitely be back!

Came here during restaurant week and it was so good, we had to come back again soon after. Good value for the portion sizes and the flavours transports you straight to south india. My go to restaurant if I need to scratch my dosa itch.
