Great vibe. Lots of people, busy restaurant. Had a lot of ‘traditional’ Italian feel. Servers were very polite and kind. Not all of them spoke fluent English, but they understood what was needed and were fairly prompt with requests. For the drinks menu, they didn’t have mocktail, but they did make me a non-alcoholic, very refreshing mint drink (pictured) which was a pleasant surprise. There were a lot of options on the menu and I got to try several appetizers. The appetizers were very good, especially the tomato caprese, would recommend. Also the eggplant lasagna (Melanzane alla Parmigiana). The way they prepare and present the food felt homemade, some dishes (including the Lobster ravioli which I got) were served right on the frying pan. That was pretty unique.

One thing I noticed though, was that the food in general was salty. I tend to be sensitive to salt levels but the plain bread they serve was salty and the ravioli was overly salty… Had very nice flavor and smooth texture, and the lobster meat was chewy, but I wish I had an opportunity to ask for half the salt or even 1/3 of the usual amount. I got to try the mushroom ravioli too and that was also pretty salty. Don’t know about the other dishes, the other party members seemed to enjoy them.

I am curious to try the grilled seafood (Grigliata di Pesce) and soup version (Zuppa di Pesce) but it seemed to be an assortment of different seafood (including half the lobster) likely meant for a group and it was of Market Price (ie not sure of exactly how much it would be).

Oh, and they do give a pretty nice container to take the leftovers with you, if you ask for it!

The only dessert available was tiramisu. There was no dessert menu. It was served in a plastic container that was initially hard to see, and definitely not edible. It wasn’t too sweet, I really liked the coffee/expresso they used to dip the ladyfingers inside. Had a lovely aroma and deep taste. Didn’t quite like the mascarpone cheese. I think I prefer something mixed more with fresh cream, personally – but overall enjoyed it very much. It was served cold and pleasantly moist.

Few other things to note: they have additional space in the basement(?) but there is a section of the room under the running pipes which is much lower (than the ceiling) that one of my tall friends bumped his head walking to the table not realizing that it was there. Would either put some warning sign or verbally let the customer know when you show the table, as it could cause injury. Similarly, the walls were stacked with wines – and the tables were positioned so close to them that if you sit close, you can feel the ‘hook’ of the wine rack jab your head or neck. We laughed about it, but I certainly couldn’t sit a kid over there. The bathroom in the basement was clean and well-maintained.

Overall, really enjoyed my time there, great for group-gathering, and very uplifting atmosphere and traditional Italian feel. Would just watch out for salt levels (I’m going to ask them to only put like 1/3 of salt so I can adjust it myself with salt on the table) and watching out for ‘bumpy’ objects when sitting in the basement.

We have eaten here multiple times. This is our absolute favorite Italian in the North End. The atmosphere and the service are always top notch. The food, well the food is fantastic. We had the Porcini Ravioli and the Spicy North End vodka sauce with meatball. Can’t wait to visit Boston again. You will find us here for at least one meal!

We wanted to try out Italian food in the Northend of Boston which is pretty famous for its Italian history and culture. This place did not disappoint. Very delicious lasagna, the layers were soft and thin and melt in your mouth and great tasting meat and cheese in between. Loved the calamari with lemon on it. Loved the chicken parmigiana. Pretty nice atmosphere, but it felt a little quaint inside. We had nice customer service, but the water spilled water on my food. Ooops! Restroom was NOT wheelchair accessible. Overall great experience.

They own a bunch of the restaurants in the North end. I think this is a case of real estate driving more value than the food itself. I got the spicy vodka sauce fuscilli. It was good but not memorable (no veggies or anything to diversify the dish). Probably should have ordered something other than pasta. Chicken parm was solid. Beware they do not have good gluten free options. We sat down because the hostess said they could accommodate GF, but in actuality that meant they have GF pasta but nothing else. No meats or veggies possible. So my mom did not eat well.

Tried this Italian spot during Restaurant Week that was recommended by an Italian—everything was really good! I’ll definitely come back and try their pasta next time.

I stopped by shortly after they opened. I was seated at a table with a street view, then ignored. I was literally the only customer in the restaurant. After waiting 5 minutes, I left. I came back for dinner that night because I couldn’t get into Carmelina’s. The experience was so much better! My server was excellent and the Carbonara was truly the best pasta I’ve ever had! The espresso martini, however, was overpriced and not that good. Seriously, I make them better at home.

By far the best meal I had while visiting Boston! I had a Seafood plate that included scallops, shrimp, sea bass, salmon, lobster, and calamari that was out of this world delicious with fettuccine alfredo on the side. The service and atmosphere were both excellent and the overall experience was perfect! HIGHLY recommend!

There was a lot of hype for this place but it was just alright. My pasta was undercooked and cold which was disappointing. We were also the largest group in the restaurant but they never offered us Parmesan (which is fine) but then they offered it to all of the other tables around us which was weird. The staff were friendly though and it was cool that they all spoke Italian to each other.

The dining experience was exceptional. The cuisine was fresh, delectable, and presented with aesthetic appeal. The menu provided a diverse selection of dishes. Our server was truly outstanding, demonstrating professionalism in every aspect. He was attentive and delivered exemplary service. I regret not recalling his name, though his image is included in the accompanying photographs. I noted that all service personnel exhibited attentiveness, proficiency, and efficiency in their roles, operating with a commendable level of discretion. I wholeheartedly endorse Trattoria Il Panino for an exquisite dining experience.
