Love this place for visiting with old friends…we come here 2x a year and always request our favorite seat. Its very cozy and you can talk amongst yourselves without having to shout…thats really nice. Also all the meals are great. I have to say I always enjoy my meal but this time I asked if I could have the fish that they usually serve in a red sauce…to make it in a white sauce. It wasn’t that great..honestly…but every other meal, ive had (again we’ve been meeting 3 or so years) has been great. And my husband and friend did enjoy the fish in the red sauce. However, me personally, i I will stick with the chicken or veal dishes….the clams oreganato as an appetizer were delish too!! And calamari appe…good too!!

I had a reservation for Saturday at 5 PM and was very much looking forward to the experience, as it came highly recommended by a trusted friend. Our meal began pleasantly—the calamari appetizer was delightfully light, airy, and crispy.However, the service we received was disappointing. While we were still enjoying our appetizer, a staff member asked if we had finished, despite the plate being nearly full. It gave the impression that we were being rushed. Later, when our pasta dishes arrived, I requested additional bread for the table. The same gentleman (I use that term loosely)visibly grimaced and replied, “I already brought you bread.” I clarified i am aware we wanted more, to which he responded, “I’ll bring you more bread, but I’m going to charge you.”
This exchange felt unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. While I understand there may be policies regarding additional items, the tone and manner in which this was communicated did not align with the warm and welcoming service I expected from your establishment.

I went back for an encore. The main course was flavorful and delicious. The dessert was yummy as well. The service was attentive and atmosphere stellar. I would live to go back for a quiet evening with some indulgence.

Delicious Italian food with the best pasta filled with flavor. Vegetarian options like minestrone soup filled with vegetables and of course pasta with vegetables. Large indoor and outdoor seating perfect for large parties. We had 7 people sitting very comfortably.

A 5 star experience!

My friends had clams and enjoyed the food very much.

@ilgustowinebar is an authentic italian restaurant located on the upper west side!

ft:
-pirata livornese: packed with so many delicious seafoods such as clam, mussel, shrimp, salmon, calamari on top of angel hair pasta. this was beyond delicious. the portion size was huge and everything was perfect!
-calamari: such a classic dish, and they make it so well. the outside is crispy and the inside is tender!
-red wine

Gus the owner has done a great job of making this restaurant classy steps away from the Trader Joes on 93rd and Columbus.

Always love discovering a new Italian spot I can add to my list and this Trattoria and wine bar on the Upper West Side has a perfect menu and vibe for date night!

They have a Beautiful outdoor dining setup and an intimate, artfully decorated inside dining area perfect for a birthday dinner or after work glass of wine.
