Simply the worst bar experience i have ever been to. Went to catch the second half of Illini vs Michigan st game. There was not many i the bar, and the bartender proceeded to stay at the one end of the bar, and never even look to the other end. She literally served some 2 times on the other end of the bar, before even looking or coming to the other end, which had more people. You could tell it was her friends she was taking care of. It was 35 minutes, Almost the whole second half of the game before she finally noticed the whole other end of the bar. Then seemed mad she had to help all of us. Absolutely the worst experience, and I have been to bars all over rhe world, would expect it in a busy, or very high end bar…. added: went back for our second drink, waited 10 minutes, she walked up to the people next to me, asked if they was good, then looked directly at me, and left, and went to people that just walked up to the bar, and asked for their order. Another 30 minutes before she came back.

Absolutely terrible service. Came here during the Bears game and it was a complete mess. Everything took forever ordering drinks, getting food, even getting acknowledged. There were only three people working during one of the busiest times of the week, which is ridiculous and unfair to both staff and customers.
If you’re going to host game-day crowds, staff accordingly. Waiting endlessly while trying to watch a game completely kills the experience. No urgency, no organization, just frustration all around.
I wanted to enjoy the game and grab a few drinks, not spend the entire time waiting. Won’t be back for another game unless something seriously changes.

I am redoing my previous review and making a new one.
Food:
The mushrooms are fire. It is my favorite appetizer, my boyfriend maxed out on their wings and seemed to like them. I like their food. I do enjoy it. It hits the spot. The kitchen closes about 10pm if you want to eat.
The drinks are always on point. And I feel they ask for a fair price in drinks. It has Amber Bock Beer on tap which seems to be rare downtown.
Service:
The bartenders are great. I never have to wait too long for them to get to me if at all. Everytime my greeting is friendly, inviting ,and eager to assist, It is often one bartender so tip well, their deserve it.
They provide entertainment in the form of darts, billiards, sport channels, and slot machines. I usually partake in the billiards and darts. You can play music through a juke box. It can sometimes be challenging to play pool but there are 2 tables. It is a good time.
Atmosphere:
TVs are all around. (I really wish they had one closer to the billiards like maybe where the bulls neon sign is. I wanted to watch the game and play at the same time, but it was difficult and the biggest screen in view was fine enough but often someone was in the way.) It is a good local pub that has a good amount of space inside and has good drinks.
I come here often and it has because one of my favorite spots.

Mcguires is a great college town bar without the college….issues. We came in on a Wednesday night and it was amazing. Christine (sp?) Was our bartender and she was great! Always had a full drink, she was polite and made good small talk. If you are looking for a nice big bar with great service and good people, you need to stop in and have a few.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! Been here so many times, used to be my favorite bar. Went COMPLETELY SOBER with a few of my friends (ALL 21). A female server was serving us. She checked all five of our IDs, threatening to refuse service to two of us. All she said was she “didn’t like their IDs”. We asked why and she gave us our drinks without telling us the reason why she almost denied us. After playing a couple rounds of darts, being very respectful, not drunk or loud, my friend and I went up to get another drink. After both of us ordering she responded that she was going to close us out. This was at 10:00 pm, when the bar closes at 1:00 am. After being asked by another one of us, she simply said that she would only serve us one drink and that she was done. This was a completely unprofessional and disappointing experience and left us all very confused and upset.

I genuinely liked this bar. I’ve been here a couple times before and it was a great, chill time. It is located in a college town, so yes, I’m sure some college students can get rowdy. But tonight, my boyfriend and I, as well as my two friends, decided to have a chill night here at the bar. You know… grab a few drinks and play some pool. Tonight the bar is fairly empty. Chill. We each grab a drink, not before getting our ID’s examined for 2 solid minutes each of course, and then proceed to order our drinks. I won’t get too into the nitty gritty, but basically, we were refused another drink due to the bar “limiting the amount of college students”. Interesting. And quite assuming too. We are young (between 22-23)… but to be discriminated against because of that? Idk. If you are a younger 21+… just go somewhere else. They will group you into a stereotype and not let you have a good time. Bar tender could use some customer service training too.. she seems to be about the same age as us. Huh.. Weird!

Went here with a couple of friends on a chill wednesday night. Had been there many times before and enjoyed it. We are all over the age of 21, she at first denied 2 of the 5 of us saying she “didn’t like their ID’s”. She took another look and then served all of us. We were sitting in the corner of the bar, playing a game of darts and not causing any trouble. When two of us went up to her for one more drink she told us that she was done serving us. When we asked why she raised her voice, saying “i’m done” and turned her back, refusing to answer any questions as to why she wouldn’t serve us. It was only 10:00 pm and they didn’t close until 1, we left and will NOT be back after this.
