Went here for an anniversary dinner and was amazed. Both of our dishes were fantastic and the service was on point. Dessert was especially good.

The pesto sauce in my dish was delicious and so rich in flavor.

What an incredible find! This small, quaint Italian restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy and charming — the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Italy.

Our server was wonderful — attentive without being intrusive — and what really stood out was how the staff took the time to speak to my wife and me by name throughout the evening. It was such a personal, thoughtful touch that made the experience feel extra special.

As for the food, it was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the veal, and it was hands-down the best I have ever had — tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana, and she couldn’t stop raving about it. Every bite tasted homemade, with just the right balance of rich sauce and melted cheese.

We left already talking about when we can come back. A true gem of a restaurant — warm, welcoming, and delicious in every way. Highly recommend!

My family has been coming to Leelanau County for decades. We only recently (within the last 2 years) discovered Funi’s. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is among the best Italian cuisine we have ever had (and we’ve been to Italy), and the atmosphere is so friendly.
The owners sat with us last month and helped us get a reservation for this week, even though its the busiest week of the year!
We love it here and will continue to dine at this establishment. It is one of the best kept secrets of the area, without question!

Hands down one of my new favorite restaurants of all time. We came from Detroit for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Everything was literally the best I have ever eaten.

The service was some of the best I have ever experienced, including giving my wife a tasting of the wine to see what she prefered, and we ordered bottles of it for home as well (Late Harvest Riesling). They made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.

The ambience of the setting was amazing. The energy and life of the staff radiated through everything. It felt like coming home with a welcoming family to greet you coming in the door.

We had the prosciutto asparagus as an appetizer and the flavor was so good I almost shed tears. My wife got the anniversary chicken, which was the best chicken we’ve had in our lives. No Joke. The Bistecca Balsamico was heaven of meat. The outside was a perfect crunch of amazing, the inside done to perfection, and the reduction was a wonderfully tangy offset to the candied steak.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish I lived closer but that might be dangerous as I would want to eat here like 15 times a month. I cant wait to come back up and experience this amazing restaurant again. I cannot stress that this is one of the best places to eat in Northwest Michigan. I know I will be setting a reservation as soon as we can escape up there again.

My hats off to the entire staff for making it such a memorable night.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Had I known I would be seated next to a party of 16 celebrating a birthday I would have cancelled my reservation. They were very loud and not concerned that their party was a distraction to other diners around them. When I asked for a server that I have enjoyed on previous occasions, I was told she was too busy with this large group. Only, a short time later she was given a table of 6 next to me and then a table of 4 behind me. My party endured a server that was not very attentive and had no knowledge concerning the menu. We ordered, saw her only when our meals were delivered to the table, and then when she dropped off the bill. We received better service from the busboy. This is a small intimate restaurant that should consider not booking large parties in their small dining room. Upon leaving I voiced my displeasure to the hostess, who offered no apologies nor remedy. It’s a popular restaurant in the area and certainly will not be affected by losing my business, however I hope that they read my review and consider making some changes.

First time at Trattoria Funistrada. Outstanding Italian cuisine! Salmon Piccata is to die for. Veal Parm incredible and Veal Saltimbocca was – according to my friend – “Stupid good”. The Pecan “Goodness” is “OMG” great. Excellent wine list with reasonable pricing. This is totally worth the drive. If you love a charming atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible Italian food, this is your place!

Thanks to Trattoria Funistrada for squeezing us in when a storm knocked the power out on our dinner plans for our anniversary week dinner (yes, that’s a thing) while staying on Glen Lake. Literally the best chicken saltimbocca ever. The hostess and wait staff were very accommodating and the chef stopped by to check on us.

Homemade desserts are a must try.

I’d recommend reservations because we got there right when they opened….

We enjoyed our first visit to Funistrada. Our server recommended the veal dishes, so I ordered Veal Saltimbocca and my wife had the Lemon Artichoke Veal. Both meals were very tasty.

The restaurant is cozy and tables are close together, so if you’re covid cautious you may not be comfortable.

This was by far the very best meal I’ve ever had in the Traverse City area. We had excellent service and food. My salmon picatta was perfectly cooked and my husband loved his veal saltimbocca. We were seated next to a very large party but we were adequately served by our very professional and friendly waitress. My only complaint would be the condition of both of the bathrooms. They need to update and fix the hole in the floor!
