We’ve had breakfast here a few times, very good. But tonight we had dinner. Our waitress Marina was very friendly and attentive. I had the chicken Parmesan, I asked for Alfredo sauce on the pasta instead of marinara and they accommodated my request with no problem. It was very tasty! The perfect portion size also. My husband had the lasagna. He said it was the best lasagna he’s ever had. Great dinner!!

Written in September 2018: today, we mourn the end of our long relationship with Trattoria Al Forno.

I pose the following question to the restaurant here: How many of you have been at Al Forno long enough to remember me and my girlfriend dang near moved to tears by your original offerings?

During one trip, we ate at Al Forno nightly for three straight evenings and couldn’t get enough.

Sadly, over the last year, quality has declined well below the price point. What happened? Was it the departure of Chef Rumpler or manager Athena?

The calamari now has a heavier breading, greasier and laden with heavy sauces. The lasagna was overcooked and bland; tasted like a thawed frozen meal from the supermarket.

The Pasta alla Bolognese tasted like it came from a Chef Boyardee can.

It did not help when our waitress kept walking away when we were still in conversation with her. She was not very attentive during the meal either, and unhelpful in making the evening any better.

Overall, a general downward trend over the last 12 months.

Silver lining: The olive oil is still good, let’s see if they can manage to keep that going. The insalata caprese is also still a noteworthy dish ever since they brought back the heirloom tomatoes. How long before Al Forno screw those up? Let me know.

And, to you people who offer some half-hearted response here to try and somehow woo us back, please, save your energy and focus elsewhere. We are done talking, no one at the restaurant has listened over the last 12 months, so there is nothing YOU can do to make things any better, don’t fool yourselves.

Updated on 25 December 2025: after a 7-year break, we decided to give Trattoria Al Forno a peek to see if anything has improved.

Bottom line up front: none.

We had a reservation for 6.10p, we arrived and checked in at 5.50p but was not seated until 6.20p. The waiter, Todd, did not show up until 6.32p.

Todd from Natick MA, had zero personality and looked like he didn’t want to live anymore. No smiles, no pleasantries, no soul, dead inside. Looked like we were an inconvenience to him. Maybe his dog died. He was also a touch bit creepy with my girlfriend. Simply added very little value to our experience that night.

Manager: if someone is not in the mental state to elevate the guests’ experience, send them home; they are doing more damage to the brand than the revenue is worth.

Olive oil was stone cold and flooded with cheap garlic pieces.

Burrito had tiny slivers of basil… what? Running low on basil leaves?

Short ribs were dry. Not worth eating. The accompanying Pilanta was decent.

Shrimp pasta was decent but nothing memorable.

Shiny exception: Hostess Hailey from Birdsboro, PA was helpful, charming and sets the standard for everyone else.

We continue to not return no matter what the social media people say below.

Trattoria al Forno has become one of my go-to dining spots at Disney’s BoardWalk, consistently delivering a warm atmosphere, quality Italian food, and dependable service. The rustic ambiance feels inviting, making it an ideal place to unwind after a day in the parks.

The menu is well-crafted, and my favorites remain the pull-apart garlic bread, the oak-grilled strip steak, and the lasagna—each prepared with thoughtful seasoning and fresh ingredients. Portions are generous, and for a Disney restaurant, the pricing is notably reasonable.

Across multiple visits, the staff has been friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience. Trattoria al Forno continues to be a reliable choice for satisfying Italian cuisine in a comfortable setting – definitely worth checking out! Thanks!

Great food, amazing theming! Good service and lots of food options. Vegetarian meals did not disappoint! We’ll definitely be back! Walking around the Boardwalk after our meal was very relaxing with so much to enjoy and see.

My partner & I were able to make a walk up reservation for a Sunday dinner around 7 pm & had to wait no longer than around 15-20 mins. Upon entry, we were greeted by Bruce, the host/seater. He was so pleasant & personable & made it feel like I was being seated by a family member.

Justin was our server. He was nice, the restaurant was busy & he made sure he checked on us whenever at a table nearby as well.

Now for the disappointing part…dinner. My partner had the chicken parm “parmigiana di pollo” & I opted for the shrimp pappardelle. While her chicken parm came out cold, & tasted as if it was sitting in the window for an extended period of time, mine was the exact opposite. My shrimp pappardelle came out piping hot, & unlike some of the other reviews, my shrimp was cooked to perfection. While she was none too pleased with her meal, she ate in silence (because she was so hungry) while I devoured mine (which albeit needed a little help in the flavor department, it was still good overall.) later, that proved to be a big mistake. I woke around 3 am running to the restroom & continued to run to and fro for the remainder of the next day (until midnight).
I was struck with food poisoning. While trying to get in contact with someone in management to alert them of the issue, that proved nearly impossible as there is no direct line of communication to the restaurant.

With that being said, eat at your own risk.

We had Breakfast at this restaurant before heading to Hollywood Studios. Great breakfast. I had the” two eggs your way” which included sausage, bacon, and bfast taters. Standard American fare done very well. My partner however had the “Al Forno Eggs” which she loved!!
Like most places associated with Disney , the service was impeccable.

Came here to celebrate a birthday dinner – we’re passholders and have been to many Disney sit down restaurants at this point and I gotta say…Trattoria al Forno ranks near the top! The truffle gnocchi, plant based bolognese, lemon cake, and chocolate panna cotta were all stand-out dishes! (Sidenote we’ve been here for breakfast as well and it’s also pretty great)

My first time. Went for breakfast with some friends. To be honest my expectations were not very high. I figured it would be a typical breakfast with a higher price tag because it’s in the Disney “bubble”. My socks were knocked of from the absolute beginning to the very last bite. We had the very last breakfast reservation (11:15). I ordered the Steak and Eggs with Potatoes….OMGooodness. there was not one morsel of food left on my plate. My friends equality enjoyed their food, especially the Breakfast Pizza. I CAN NOT wait to go back. Ohhhh and our server went above and beyond. We received special treats and a button since I was celebrating my birthday.
