Underground spot with an old-world vibe offering traditional Belgian dishes & a huge beer selection.

Tried Trappe Door for dinner recently on a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere and service were great, and I had a really good Moscow mule. It is to be noted that they have their own take on certain items, leading to some initial surprise when dishes arrived. I noticed it especially with the beef tartare (came already on bread and pre-mixed with egg/lemon) and the au poivre sauce (not creamy). Despite this, the food was really good, and we cannot wait to go back!

I got the steak filet. It was good and flavorful but the fries weren’t rly my favorite. The sauces were cool though! I rly liked the bartender, good dude, makes good drinks. The appetizer fried meat/cheese thing wasn’t bad, but the sauce I wasn’t a huge fan of.

My coworker recommended this place, and it definitely lives up to the hype. The atmosphere is fantastic, you really feel like you’ve stepped into a Belgian brewery. The food was excellent; the chicken schnitzel was incredibly tender and delicious, and the Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of bacon and flavorful notes from the salad underneath. I tried a hot toddy and an old fashioned, both of which were great. I’ll definitely be back to try the mussels I saw people ordering at the bar.

Fantastic food. We loved the Bitterballen, Ndouja pasta, and the fries. The fries were absolutely perfect and I really enjoyed the dipping sauces . Our hostess was also very kind and informative. Learned a bit about ales while I was there and discovered something new I like! I kind of wish we were seated further away from the kitchen due to noise, but it didn’t really impact our experience that much at all. I’d definitely recommend going for a nice occasion.

The food, service and atmosphere were phenomenal. We had the Baked Brie and Beef Tartare to start, both awesome.
Entrees were braised short ribs with creamy brussel sprouts (these were really impressive); wife got the sautéed duck breast in cherry sauce with PHENOMENAL bacon diced potatoes. I was jealous.
I’m not super into Belgian-inspired beers, but they had a ton to choose from if that’s your jam! I would highly recommend this place purely on service, the food, and ambiance.

Previous 5 star review.,,,, not even close this go round. We visit Greenville annually and we have had exceptional food here in the past. This time we made reservations and were very disappointed. People that were seated after us got 5heir food and we waited an hour to get our orders. Food was mediocre at best after waiting after reservations. Will not make a point to attend this place again.

We visited Greenville for the weekend and found this place while walking around. It was one of my favorite spots here. The environment was cozy and the food was delicious. What really made the experience incredible was the quality and character of the bartenders. Thanks for the experience. Till next time!

Didn’t expect Belgian food in Greenville, SC but it happened and I’m glad. We walked down the stairs to the carmine colored walls and bar area and found two seats at the bar. Ordered the house made ginger beer. For apps we tried the beef croquets and Flemish onion soup. Would order the croquets again but not the soup. Then main course shared moules-frites (mussels and French fries) with three different types of mayo. Heaven.

The Flemish onion soup was delicious. The seafood waterzooi was a bit salty and the shrimp was a little overcooked, but otherwise decent. That stew also appeared to be Americanized since it has more things in it and served with bread which was not the case when I visited Belgium. The inside had a old-world Belgian vibe since it’s located below street level.
