Great breakfast, excellent large pancakes, hash browns cooked right , interesting and amusing taxidermy throughout log cabin looking rustic restaurant.

This is my first ever review. I would leave no stars if I could. First off this is not a ribeye, and it was definitely not medium rare. It literally looked like it was microwaved as the steak was grey and the fat was not cooked all the way.
I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt and tried to be respectful about it. We are all human it’s okay. But when I stated I didn’t feel it was fair to pay $24 for that steak, I was met with instant defense. I did eat some of the other stuff and told them I would pay for what I ate. So I was not looking for a free meal. And to be told I had no reason to “deny” the steak is sad and that the cuts of meat they get come with an insane amount of fat and they have to trim off more fat than steak is insane.

Family-owned spot with friendly service and hearty portions. The food is good—especially the comfort classics—and it’s a nice place to grab a meal if you’re passing through. The atmosphere could use a little update, but it’s clean and welcoming. Not much else in the area, so Trails Inn is a solid choice when you’re in Ashton.

Small town food with a small town feel. Everything was good, nothing excellent or over the top. Just your average food, service was decent… they were not that busy but service was slow. Just a slow paced place.

I had a few things that weren’t quite to my taste. My scrambled eggs came out looking more like an omelet, which wasn’t quite what I expected. I also thought the fish was a bit too salty for me. The hash browns were surprisingly plain. However, I do want to say that the restaurant was very clean, and the staff were lovely.

Super friendly traditional diner. Cinnamon roll was excellent, hot gooey and tasty. My standard egg breakfast was meh , but I like browned hashbrown. The trout and eggs was great, noting $20 was steep. Coffee stayed hot and cup never empty. I’d go back again with adjusted expectations.

I’ve been eating at the establishment off and on since the late 80s as a kid, heading up to Island Park on fishing trips with my Grandpa and taking my friends and family from out of state on guided fishing trips, stopping here for breakfast on the way. A small tradition of sorts. Been doing this up until the last 10 years or so when the overwhelming tourist attraction to the Island Park area became bitterly unbearable to enjoy and have since lost interest. This last weekend, on a Sunday drive with my date, I told her I know the good place for breakfast in Ashton that has the best biscuits and gravy in the world! I was so excited to start our date day with a nice homestyle breakfast… I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I give the server five stars since she kept our coffee and drinks full, our breakfast was to the table within seconds of the order up bell, and we watched her hustle between tables to make sure that everybody was getting optimum service! Great service is hard to find these days however, the food… Oh boy, what happened to the food? Walking through the front door, I Began to reminisce because not much has changed. Sat down, ordered my usual… Biscuits and gravy with a patty sausage ,2 eggs, and a side of hashbrowns. My date ordered the all meat omelette with hashbrowns and English muffins. To my dismay, the gravy for the biscuits was thin, very watered down, running through the tines of my Fork. The gravy tasted straight out of the Cysco food service can, with leftover sausages chunks in it. Quite possibly gravy from the day before that had water added to it and heated up for Sunday’s breakfast service. That’s how it looked and how it tasted. The sausage was definitely a frozen patty that was thrown on the griddle, over cooked, cardboard like in texture. The over medium eggs were cooked right and the hashbrowns were OK. My dates omelette was full of meat. However, the eggs were overcooked, tough and browned, looking very undesirable at the table and tasted off. Out of respect for the server, and other patrons that were dining, we didn’t complain, instead leaving this Google review and ending a long time family tradition for good.

3% charge if you want to use a debit or credit card. Service was good and fairly quick, given there only appeared to be one server. If you don’t like loud Mexican music, this place isn’t for you. Food was mediocre. Hashbrowns were good, biscuits were not great, and omelet had lots of veggies but were added to the eggs cold, so entire omlet lukewarm. Trails Inn has no fruit on its menu.

We went to the Trails Inn Restaurant after camping for a couple of days. We went around lunchtime and got breakfast. The food is fairly inexpensive, so that’s a good thing. However, the food is also not particularly great, but it’s not also particularly bad. It’s just mediocre. If you’re looking for really good food there’s other places in Ashton to go.

Maybe we caught em on a bad Sunday, but we were not satisfied with the taste or texture of the scrambled eggs. See the pic, they are not light and fluffy, or scrambled at all. Disappointed with the hashbrowns (barley cooked), and the breakfast burrito.

The service was terrible. It took way, way too long, just to acknowledge us once they seated us. Forever to get menus, then forever for our waters, finally we ordered and, yes, the food took so long some of it was hardly warm when it arrived.

We never did get our waters refilled, and the one waitress seemed to be doing everything except buying the tables.

It’s a nice facility, with very clean restrooms. I did like my French toast.

I’d pass it by until they resolve a few issues.

Food is delicious! Hamburger steaks and cinnamon rolls are huge! Definitely recommend. Cons- only customers to begin with, and service was still very slow. I say that to maybe prepare anyone not aware we were in no rush so my group enjoyed the extra time for small talk.
